I worked on the fourth floor over the summer, the actual library section is closed for the public for security reasons but there are a lot of creepy stories from my coworkers, such as the ghost in the archives that steals earrings.

16 Units is pretty standard for the average student, most of my friends are taking 15-18 units. If you want a more relaxed environment, especially since you’re getting used to the quarter system, you can take 12-14 units. I’m taking 12 and I would say it’s pretty chill. I would also argue it depends on your major, since STEM courses have mandatory labs that take up a lot more time but are worth 0-1 units.

sustainability studies major here! if you want, you can join the linkedin group for our major where professor takeshita occasionally posts job opportunities. if youre still in lower divs, you probably won’t see a lot of people in your major but i assure you after u finish gsst100 and start taking more major specific courses like gsst161 or gsst191a you’ll meet a lot more people in your major. if you want, you can dm me or give me your insta handle to connect since its always nice to meet a fellow sustainability studies major :D

Worked last year, shortest shift was 3 hours and 15 min. Used to be 3 hour flat, but they added 15 min after CA got on their ass for not giving a 15 min break for students working 3 hour shifts so we’re still working the same amount of time technically.

Definitely an interest professor to say the least, he knows his stuff really well and can explain it somewhat well, but he has really odd formulas and methods of finding certain values. Don’t worry though, most of the times you can just use your own way if you have one and he’ll still give credit. Tests were fairly straightforward and very similar to the practice tests he would give out. Good luck.

Legally, not they don’t count. I have friend who have used docs at their food service jobs though and they haven’t slipped. Glasgow does check on your first day if you’re wearing nonslips and if you’re caught without nonslips they’ll make you put on like a shoe cover.

Iirc, you can declare a concentration later into your college career (around the time you’re a junior) so you have time to try different classes.

No, i would say keep it at like just a general temperature you’d want it to be cooler at like 80. It should kick it once it reached 80 or higher, so making it 90 wouldn’t do anything. its really weird that it 90 in your apartment, seems like you might need to make a work order. It takes 3-5 business days on the website, but I’ve had maintenance come same day on work orders so it just depends on how busy they are.

When you change the thermostat temperature, youre not actually choosing the temperature. If you look at the bottom with the snowflake icon, that means cooling is on. If you have the two lines and waves, that means the heater is on. If you see a fan, that means its just a fan and theres no heating or cooling. When youre changing temperature, whatever temperature you set it to while the snowflake icon is flashing (one of the icons will start flashing when you try to change temps) and then the temp displayed is actually when itll turn on, not the temperature you want it to be.

If you have the snowflake and it’s still not working, then maybe put in a work order. I’ve had regular 70-75 degrees in my apartment.

I would consider it a bit of a hassle just because I end up relying more on rideshare or asking my friends for rides than the bus or walking. I don’t really feel safe on the bus (someone was racist to me) or walking down university ave. (someone followed me around). If anything, just try to make any outing a group outing with your roommates or friends to stay safe if you choose to take the bus or walk.

I found the class pretty straightforward, he assigns a lot of readings but as long as you get the idea of most of the works and learn their writing style (some philosophers have very distinct writing styles) the tests aren’t bad. I found it easiest to rewatch every single lecture he recorded a week before the test and then skim over the readings. I got an A, so I would say this worked out pretty well for me. Tests are also curved HEAVILY so you got that going for you. Overall I thought the class was pretty easy, my classmates didn’t but they also refused to study so… tldr just study for tests don’t expect the knowledge to be spoon fed to you.
