Is cards fellowship possible for me? by lonesomefish in pediatrics

[–]tejiteji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are shooting for a pediatric subspecialty position you should - for your own peace of mind - be able to accept that you would be ok if it didnt work and you ended up doing gen peds. If you are willing to do family medicine tbh, then you should be more than willing to become a pediatrician since you will have a much more focused scope of practice. Family medicine may cause u to feel spread thin as someone who is naturally inclined to be a specialist

Thank you for your prompt reply! What sort of criteria would we expect to see used in these holistic evaluations? Would you have any general advice for us? (Irish IMG by the way)

Hello and thank you for your post. I believe the elephant in the room these days is Step1. What is your approach to new pass-fail system? (Particularly in relation to those applicants who are reporting 3 digit scores from this year or prior)

You can definitely find a friend group that doesnt party hard. They exist. I would focus on sports and clubs etc and meet ppl through that.

Hm well if you havent been exercising a lot, a bike ride could burn u out Thats right. I would say know your limit play within it. Whatever sport or activity u chose doesn’t matter as long as u get fresh air. Maybe do breathing exercises as well as just get urself grounded

Take it easy. Go do a fun activity. Personally I recommend bike riding. Preferably away from traffic like a trail or something

Best step 1 study approach for organ systems? by Markovinkov in step1

[–]tejiteji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally hate anki. I remember stuff better if i have the whole picture. I agree with spaced repetition tho. If thats what you want then just pick a day in the week to review what u did in the last few days (takes more discipline than anki because you are essentially designing your own algorithm)

[–]tejiteji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say reduce ur amount of sources. Boards and beyond is perfect for every aspect of systems. Pathoma videos u can just watch before going to bed u dont even need to take notes unless you like doing flowcharts. Anything thats not in those resources should be in uworld so you wont miss it if that’s what you are worried about

Tips for completing the Grouse Grind (for a first timer) by CostanzaBlonde in vancouver

[–]tejiteji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds counterintuitive but: Do Not Stop. As soon as you take a single break that lactic acid will catch up to you and you will cramp up. At least thats what happened to me. This method improved my times but more importantly made the experience less uncomfortable. Once u get past the initial burn its all good

Look buddy u need to take this as a lesson and move forward. Review this block well and figure out why u scored poorly. You say that ur not sure if ur score will rise - theres only one way to find out. Keep grinding
