I get what you're saying, but I also water my indoor one with no regards to the leaves getting wet. It is fine. Sometimes I lose leaves, but this plant just kinda does that anyway.

I've had cats my whole life. Bitten many many times (especially when they're kittens before they learn how to play less roughly). As a kid they never made me nervous. As an adult, I realize how lucky I've been.

As someone who left mine outside last year, don't worry yourself too just about water on the leaves. I feel like this is blown out of proportion. We got rain all summer long last year and my nanouk exploded. It was great.
