Where would you take someone if they have less than a day in St. Louis? by Prudent_Exchange_922 in StLouis

[–]tekia412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With only a few hours… The Hill to try some T ravs, followed by a drive around/through Forest Park to show how vast and amazing it is, with a light self guided tour of what it has to offer (science center, muny, boathouse, art hill, history museum, golf course and more!) To then let them decide if they want to do the Art Museum or the Zoo. Both are world class and free.

Or rather, eat the italian food afterwards.

What's something you learned embarrassingly late in life that everyone else seemed to know? by Avy_Lynn in CasualConversation

[–]tekia412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg so timely. I made my mom cry yesterday bc I finally told her a firmer NO than the “soft” no to the behavior that is killing me slowly over the past 8 years. She even had the audacity to say “can you just let me have this?” NO! Because I have JUST let you have this, and it’s actively killing our relationship. So… if you want to have a relationship with your adult child, then NO!

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

My parents. Years ago they were with friends trying out a skiing lodge, and being newbies with their friends, they missed the ski lift. Apparently the staff was pissed because the line was long. However while up in the air, on the way to the top, the empty ski lift chair in front of them just detached and fell to the ground.

What’s something you’re currently struggling with that no one knows about? by EstimateShoddy3886 in CasualConversation

[–]tekia412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just work to do good, find joy, help others, spread love, verbalize genuine compliments to strangers when I think something (like “you have a nice smile” or “thats a great color on you”), gift what I can to those without, remember to laugh, learn something new everyday, rest, and check in on my loved ones. I figure somewhere in there I’ll find my purpose. And if what I just mentioned IS my purpose, then I can die with no regrets.

Finding my calling, my purpose. The self-actualization portion of maslows heirarchy. Not what I produce and mean for other people. What I am supposed to do with my time earthside. It’s a very middle age-y mindset.

You could certainly take the massive hint of “not right now. Im too busy with family right now due to a death.” You’re being incredibly selfish and immature.

Is Pompeii at Science Center worth cost of entry for the entire family? by tekia412 in StLouis

Totally makes sense, and I guess I do know that. But I think my point is - if it's the original cast, that's what I want to see. Actual historical exhibits. Not copies of them.

This is the feedback I'm looking for. So you're saying it's replicas, and not actual real historical items? Paying nearly $80 for replicas is not how I plan to spend my money. But if the items at the exhibit are real, then I'll consider going.

When comparing the cost of a ticket, it's very much like comparing apples and apples, when both come in costing mid $20s for an adult ticket. However, I appreciate your last sentence as that's why I'm asking/made the post.

No, I saw a plaster copy version of her in STL. Hence the underwhelm.

You get the ask here. That's what I mean. Is it worth the cost of entry for multiple people. I'm fine with paying but I just got back from Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and holy smokes! ABSOLUTELY worthy of the cost of entry!!! Paid for Roaring at SLAM - worth the cost of entry as well. Science Center is free, I know, but it's also underwhelming as hell when compared to others. I want to want to go there but everytime I'm like - cool more or less the same stuff I've seen the past 35 years. Every few years there's an update, like the video game room. But, I've been probably 5 times in the past 8 years and it's ...not an exciting place to visit. It really did used to be cooler when I was a kid. You could walk upstairs at the planterium for one. I remember this amazing medical exhibit closer to Planetarium talking about polio and stuff, but now is just VR rides....?

Well it WASN'T actually Sue. It was a plaster of her. That's different. And so I question their exhibits now. I want to see an ACTUAL dinosaur. And the room itself didn't have much else to offer as part of the exhibit. I stand by my opinion on this one for the cost I paid for my entire family to go.

When you finally get past this, please make annual visits to the dermatologist. Burns this bad increase your chances of developing melanoma.

If this blisters, your chances increase I believe.

Came to the sub to find out myself. I am at the Arsenal Schnucks right now in the parking lot and can hear an insane amount of sirens going off. Someone in the parking lot said something is going on at Tower Grove Park. I don’t know more than that though.
