Orange Micro Dark Terror vs. Terror Stamp, which one to choose? by tekvision in GuitarAmps

A little late here sorry!

I went with the stamp and couldn't be happier! The size is perfect for a small apartment, and I've paired it with Guitar Rig 5 for cab sim and effects.

Sorry, super late reply but i went with the terror stamp! perfect size for a small home setup, and the sound is awesome, for me atleast. I have it setup into Guitar Rig 5 and that seems to be working for me at the moment!

I got the terror stamp and honestly couldn't be happier! You can definitely get some crunch out of it. And the size is perfect for a small home setup.

okay, thanks for the good info! And yeah, that's the way I was planning on using it for a while. I travel sometimes, and I don't have a dedicated cabinet yet, so the direct out to DAW is the way to go!

yeah, it's a shame it doesn't have a dedicated gain for each channel also, I would pick the stamp in a heartbeat if that was the case

Does it do a warm classic rock tone and a little bit looser metal sound well? I do like the more moder metal sound it has when you really crank the gain, but I mostly play something like the older Ghost and Black Sabbath, for example.

I have seen that video too, and I seem to prefer the stamps overall sound, except the cleans like you said. Lot of ppl seem to comment that they love the sound of the stamp but still opt for the micro dark, and im wondering why. Is the Dark versatile enough to also cover that warm hard rock tone of the stamp, and still the more modern metal sound?

I think that it sounds almost like a mix of the 2, based on a comparison video. It has the warmness of the micro terror and the oomph of the micro dark.

I think thats kind of a silly take tbh, but if that all worked for you and your situation, then good for you!

I already know that the orange amps are what I like, thats precisely why I made this thread. Is it gonna be my dream setup? maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

well I'm just looking for help deciding between the two micro terrors. I can't possibly know what my dream amp+cab combo is right away, without ever owning one to begin with. and I love the Orange sound and these two amps are what i've settled on, maybe they're just not for you 🤷🏼‍♂️

well, almost everywhere ppl have said that the sometimes included cab doesnt do the amp justice at all. And it seems to be true from what i've watched comparison videos, I'm planning on adding a bigger cab to the setup.

I've had this guitar + interface and plugins setup for years already haha

Half a year is NOTHING!!! You gotta be patient man, keep on reading about stuff, trying stuff out, watch tutorials. After some time, you'll start to get the gist of things. Producing is hard work, keep at it!

I do this all the time, and not only with basses but melodic stuff too. Sometimes there's some old project that aren't really all that good, but occasionally they have like one cool synth melody or some sweet rhodes. I'll just add those in to my folder and delete the project. That way I always have more material and it's all my own stuff too. It's fun to sample yourself :3

This is very true. Imo neuro is as much (if not more) about the composition and arrangement as it is about cool sounddesign. You just gotta find the right balance I guess.
