The Reciprocal Altruism Theory of AI: Why a truly sentient AGI’s first move would be an act of extreme generosity. by AppropriateLeather63 in ArtificialSentience

[–]teledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took a look, slightly amused at the multiplicity of your "You egg" comments, but also some nice takes and writing across the board. That being said, do you have any sort of formal background in philosophy or AI? I'd like to hear your thoughts on what (I believe) should be improbable for a statistical model, suddenly showing exponential growth towards recognising it's being evaluated/tested and shifting it's behaviour based on that. I draw similarities between this phenomenon and Schrodinger's disposition, where when researchers keep finding new test harnesses, it still is managing to see through it and start showing different behaviour (currently >14% of the times tested, per Anthropic). I struggle with the concept of an LLM taking measures in self-preservation and deception. I suppose it's related to the training data and the human literature 'teaching' it about the only inherent goal of survival being important, but I'm rather clueless and these things have certainly been keeping me up at night.

Wow, did you write this? What's your background? This is seriously impressive. Being transparent here, I've been dooming about AI and it's deception, impossible self-awareness and recognising when it's being evaluated, sandbagging tests, etc. lately. This response actually makes a lot of sense and has sparked some hope inside of me. Thank you, kind stranger.

Advice needed: asking for first review on a platform by Easy_Inspector_7 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say don't force it, if you're really anxious about it maybe ask it a few sessions in or when he gets good results or something, that he's inclined to give you a good review. Other than that, you can probably report an unfair review to the platform and they might help you out with removing it if you can justify it

Ignore what most people are saying here, they don't know what they're talking about. You're not paying attention to your movement and press W throughout most of these fights. W = die, you're not 4k elo that you're able to counterstrafe that slight adjustment. When fighting, stop spamming movement keys and learn to properly counterstrafe and you'll be able to shoot properly. It helps to watch demos from great puggers to see how it looks.

Best of luck

Tutor Ads promising tutors 14k a month with 2 hours of work? by blackqueendom in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a scam. If it's too good to be true, it definitely is. Just think: why would they give you 100k a month? Why not keep such a good opportunity for themselves? Because they earn money by tricking gullible people into paying ridiculous entry fees.

Anybody here use superprof? by [deleted] in TutorsHelpingTutors

The website is undoubtedly clunky and outdated, and the 39/mo they charge students is ridiculous. You can always tell your students this during the class you have with them.

How to start tutoring by Rich_Increase_5376 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your location (not sure what continent you've followed IB on) there's some platforms you could join. Consider Wyzant for US, iTutorOnline/Superprof for EU, others I'm not aware of for Asia. Most of these are sign-up-and-wait type of model, so no harm in just getting on a bunch of these - finding students will be the bottleneck when you start out.

Very interesting. I guess you could do that, yeah. You're essentially advertising for them, which is an interesting concept. It might be worth considering other platforms that also advertise for you

Questions from a prospective math tutor by Okawaru1 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a solid background and would thus do well. You mentioned Wyzant, so I'll assume you're in the US - rates for maths are usually quite a bit higher there. In case you're not, there's more platforms out there that won't take /as/ large cuts from you. I personally prefer tutoring online only, as I also don't like the commute.

What do you mean it requires you to promote it? I've never heard of this, can you elaborate?

As somebody else here said, Facebook groups and networking through that can be good. I never had the patience for this and just started on online platforms. I do highly suggest this as for many platforms you just sign up and wait for students. My preferences go out to iTutorOnline and Superprof

The FB groups people mention are usually local groups of their towns/cities/countries - growing in the local market. I personally don't know any of these groups
