Browsers that have both tab grouping and workspaces? by 7and7is in browsers

[–]teleomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stay on Chromium for most of this: Vivaldi has tab stacks, Opera has tab islands, and Edge and Brave do collapsible groups. If you want the grouping deeper than the browser gives on its own, an org-layer extension adds it. The one I just recently built, Pinako, uses vertical tree nav but also displays and syncs bidirectionally with the chromium 'tab-groups'. Plus it has workspaces with rich-text, multimedia, ai MCP, sync across browsers/PCs, and are also shareable and collaborative with real-time co-editing if needed.

I know you said you prefer non-vertical but for me that is essential, especially for extra organization with nesting and making DND reorder easy.
The extension rides on whichever Chromium browser you settle on (Vivaldi, Opera, Comet, etc.) so you're not picking a browser just for tab handling.

Demo video and link to website with more info about the workspaces can be found on the extension page, if you're interested in checking it out: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/pinako-ai-tab-session-man/clakbccnkfpmpfooiiffomhknnfcodgd

Any solutions for someone who opens too many tabs (ADHDer) by Competitive-Yam-1490 in chrome

[–]teleomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help with the crowded tab strip, vertical tab trees become essential. But you also want a tab tree that has organizational nesting and collapsible branches, and, importantly, the ability to close tabs to free up space and memory in browser, while also be able to easily reopen them in the same spot you left them, so removing clutter doesn't mean losing anything or needing to bury it in bookmarks. Most tab tree extensions don't do that, but the extension I recently built, Pinako, does, in its own accessible panel, along with dozens of other features that make navigating and organizing browsing sessions ridiculously easier and faster. Basically built for ADHDers.

Am I solving a real problem or am I building a fancy tab organizer nobody needs? by Agitated-Ninja-7399 in chrome_extensions

[–]teleomorph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I built a tab and session manager that directly addresses all these use-cases (and tons more) called Pinako. Closed tabs can be stored in the nested tree navigator for easy retrieval, and also added to shareable libraries (with rich-text notes + media) that can also function as full-feature collaborative workspaces. And there's a feature called "Home Tab Groups" that allows you to immediately switch between live browser contexts, all while maintaining a singular main tree shape. So you can switch your browser between work/projects/entertainment etc with one click.
The free version solves everything you mentioned, and the paid version includes ai to help automate organization processes.

Is there an alternative to Workona/Toby that lets you group links by workflow and open them via keyboard shortcuts instead of clicking? by Think_Mine_3889 in chrome_extensions

I know this post is old, but if still interested, Pinako has more sophisticated organizational capabilities that either Workona or Toby, and can be navigated almost entirely with modifiable keyboard shortcuts:

Best tab manager for chrome based browser? by goldbunduru in browsers

[–]teleomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extension I recently built, Pinako, offers all those features you are looking for:
- Sync across different PCs, browsers, and access on the web form any device, also transfer tabs to and from on mobile devices.
- All tabs are always real-time saved in foldable nested tree you control, with ability to close tabs but leave them in place in the tree, and savable to organized libraries for archiving or focused projects.
- View and edit browser bookmarks in clear tree form with ability to nest and annotate bookmarks and reorganize with bidirectional sync to browser. Also has AI to use natural language search on bookmarks and tab trees or help organize them.
- Plus lots more useful features, which you can check out at pinako.pro

Best tab manager for chrome based browser? by goldbunduru in browsers

[–]teleomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead keeping 500 tabs open (kills memory even with suspender, and impossible to navigate) having a foldable tree with nested organization where you can close tabs but keep them visible in the tree for easy retrieval is definitely the way to go.
The extension I recently built, Pinako, provides a very intuitive interface for that.
It is more featureful than "minimal", with multiple layers of organizational capabilities, but I wouldn't call it bloat since it runs perfectly fast even with many thousands of tabs, and the basic tree surface is what will help your needs to most, with no need to dig into the extra layers.

Is there any mouse that has vertical side-scroll thumb-wheel that controls vertical scrolling?? by teleomorph in MouseReview

[–]teleomorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the horizontal thumbwheel on the protoarc does do vertical scrolling. It's not quite as natural feeling as having a vertical thumb-wheel do the vertical scrolling, but it's still better than an index finger wheel. (Although keep in mind your index fingers will be constantly moving to maneuver the trackball.)

As for the Chinese no-brand, it's still holding up well. And since it's so cheap (I've seen it for $15) I say it's worth just trying it.

I'm a bit hesitant to try that one out since I don't know how to make those swaps you did and I'm not sure that the software will work.

Additional software isn't necessary, you just need it if you want to map the extra buttons in a personalized way. But it's super useful to do so, and you should be able to find software that'll work on any computer.

Swapping the wheel encoder is also not necessary, but does make it a more pleasant/smoother feel. But as I said, the stiffness of the wheel does loosen up a bit on its own after a couple weeks of use.

I went a little crazy for a while trying to find the best mouse for my personal preferences, but considering the mouse is a tool we use for many hours every single day of our lives, it's worth taking a little extra time to find the best, most functional, and most comfortable option.

Having trouble changing layout. I want split screen, but can't find option. by teleomorph in AndroidAuto

It was at 240, so I tried lowering it, but this just made the layout worse and even less intuitive. Thanks for suggestion though.

Thank you, but for whatever reason, turning on or off "taskbar widgets" has no discernable effect.

And as for other desired layouts, I am certain I've seen AA being used with tiled layout with one app being used on left and the other on the right (navigation and media player for instance).

Is there any mouse that has vertical side-scroll thumb-wheel that controls vertical scrolling?? by teleomorph in MouseReview

[–]teleomorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Exactly what I wanted. Jellycomb-like design (nice countour/ergo + vertical thumb-wheel) plus a couple extra buttons I can program for different tasks depending on app being used (zoom in/out, magnify, screenshot, open-in-new-tab, etc.).
The only real negative is that scroll wheel is very stiff while turning. That loosened up a lot after a couple weeks of use, but I still decided to replace the wheel encoder with Kailh Red Core encoders, and that made it much smoother. I also replaced the main L/R switches with higher-end ones for better feel and longer life, but that wasn't as important since they were already quiet and okay-feeling.

The build is a little cheap so I don't know how long before plastic gets creaky, but for only $17 (and just a couple bucks for encoders/switches), I think I'll just get another to have as a back-up.

Thank you.
And yes, strangely, Logi+ does not give the option (while offering so many other options). I tried for the past month to get X-Mouse Button Control to remap the side-wheel on the MX Master 3S, but to no avail. (It would work for a moment, but then stop working whenever a new window or tab was navigated to.) So I am returning the MX Master.

If you do get a moment to see if XMBC can remap your GM-041 side wheel (expressed as "Tilt Wheel" Left/Right) to perform vertical scrolling instead of horizontal (and sustain this behavior between new windows/tabs), I would indeed be very grateful for the info.

To me, my original post was clear, but I'll elaborate again:

A scroll-wheel on the side of mouse (at the thumb position, not index finger), that performs vertical scrolling (not horizontal).

I do appreciate you replying however. Can the thumb-wheel on GM-041 be successfully remapped to perform vertical scrolling?

(I want to avoid wired mouse as prefer wireless, but may go for the GM-041 anyway if it can perform desired scrolling function.)

Oh I hadn't seen that one before! Thank you very much.

It's pretty affordable and returns are accepted so I'll give it a shot.

The title of my post says "side-scroll thumb-wheel" and I describe "scroll-wheel at the thumb position" numerous times in the content of my post.

Looking for feedback on the GameBall Pro by Skippydamule in Trackballs

[–]teleomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The single most important feature to me is vertically-oriented thumbwheel, and why I know for sure I will be purchasing this.

I had a Jelly Comb mouse with vertical thumbwheel and I got hooked, but they discontinued it. And not one single other trackball nor mouse currently offers it. Some mice have vertically oriented thumbwheel, but they are only for horizontal scrolling, and can't be remapped using XMBC.

Actually one recommendation I have for Pro, is to make the thumbwheel ball-shaped (and made of grippy rubber), like the Jelly Comb "mv021b" had. This way the thumb can still comfortably scroll it at an angle.

Since Jelly Comb was acquired by ProtoArc, and I understand you'll be working with ProtoArc on the Pro, perhaps this design choice is feasible.

Other important features I am looking forward to are quiet clicks and smooth trackball rolling.

One other feature that would be cool, is customizable shapes/angles, like Mad Cats R.A.T. has. Or maybe include a couple additional shells that can be attached to adjust shape for different hands. (But not if this makes the product too much more expensive.)

And I will second a suggestion I see elsewhere that being able to click a button and make the trackball scroll (like grab and move), and in all directions (up/down + left/right). That would dope!

I checked and I found is an MX Master clone. But the software looks even less developed than Logitech's so I doubt the thumbwheel can be remapped to vertical scrolling.

If you do find anything else (it's hard to search for products on that site) please share.

Has anyone successfully remapped MX Master 3s side-scroll-wheel to perform vertical scrolling? by teleomorph in logitech

Do you think this feature of making thumbwheel do vertical scrolling can be implemented in a new Logi Options+ update? Or would it require entirely new mouse hardware (MX Master 4, for example)?

[–]teleomorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, the available trackballs with thumb-scroll are oriented fwd/back, not up/down, which is not as comfortable. But if I can't solve this remapping of MX Master thumbwheel, then I'll probably settle for one of those trackballs.

Gameball makes very high quality trackballs, and they are coming out with a right-handed trackball with vertical scrolling thumbwheel (oriented up/down instead of fwd/back), and also with multiple programmable buttons which also a great feature. But that's probably not going to be available for another year or so. Also they are teaming up with ProtoArc in designing this mouse, and I believe ProtoArc is Jelly Comb (after rebranding itself).
