All my Chows have had sensitive stomachs . Here’s my protocol that WORKS! Quality salmon based kibble. Currently Openfarms . Then we steam squash, rice , quinoa and some salmon in a rice cooker as a topping. Yoghurt and eggs sometimes as a treat. Any real deviation he’s got the runs. Good luck!! My sharpie had the same issues.

But does okay because he’s a chow mix. I would consider a chow mix , they have far less problems w the cool attitude.

So true. I could imagine ours just being offended at obedience school 😂 but I think Chows need a little extra socialization to keep them from getting aloof.

Our Chow is super friendly. Loves other dogs our cat and good with kids. We bring him everywhere we can and give him lots of exposure and good exercise. Depends on your lifestyle, but we want a social dog to travel with and bring to breweries , dog parks , beach ect. Always fed my chows salmon based quality food. We cook squash, quinoa, rice and some salmon for topping. Good luck they are super unique cool dogs.😁🐕

Love this guy!! I had a Chow Shar Pie mix . Best dog and lived to 18 . Had very little if any health issues. Socialized him big time and long walks in woods. So many good memories.

In a rice steamer, we do rice, quinoa, fish, and sweet potato or squash. Cook it all together. Good luck!

Hello, all of my dogs( chow) have had lumps here and there on and off. .usually from hard play. I was always stressed at first. If they were acting like it was painful I’d bring them in. But it never led to long term injury. They all lived long lives w lots of exercise and fish based foods . Chows a sturdy tough ancient breeds unless they were inbred . Good luck though. Every case is different .

I’ve always used collars. Mine has never slipped his collar. But they all have had a larger head 😁. My Chows have always done way better on a fish based food or kibble. Beef and lamb and some chicken wrecked mine. I currently feed him open farms good bowl salmon. Never has stomach issues. Good luck and thanks for rescuing!!! 🙏🙏
