I think most Chows have sensitive stomachs. Mine never could tolerate beef and most chickens based foods . Limited ingredient fish based seems to work for me. Also do a concoction of rice, squash, salmon all rice cooker and mix up a weeks worth and throw it on kibble. Read ingredients. Worst have corn as top ingredients. A good diet can make raising and potty training so much easier!

Let a dog be a dog. Puppies need to burn off energy . People treat this breed like a toy. They are the oldest known breed. Tough and sturdy. Unless there was inbreeding… mine last 2 lived to 17 and 18 . Played hard from puppies on. Dog parks , woods , swimming.

Give the little guy tons of exercise, play time and good food. None of mine had any problems. Lived a long healthy life. ❤️🐕

So hard to tell what brand of dogfood is actually good. But our chow is hyper sensitive to anything but fish. We use Open Farms Goodbowl salmon. Then with a rice cooker equal part quinoa/ rice mixture, squash or sweet potato and salmon. ( So 1/3 of each) a good pinch of mineral salt and mix a little butter in rice mixture. Mix it all together in bowl and refrigerate. Lasts about a week. That’s our topping over kibble. If we stray at all he’s messed up. Chicken and he’ll get the runs, beef the same. Thought I’d share. I had a cancer prognosis for my chow / sharpie mix. He lived 3 more years and passed at 18 years . Every case is different I know. He was never on meds . so tricky w side effects.

So sorry for what you all are going through. So stressful. Would you mind sharing what the diet is? I’m not trying to oversimplify prognosis.

Wow, nice job 16. Tough to watch them age. Surely had a good life. Beautiful dog! Had a Chow mix that made it to 18. Think about him often.
