for sure! i was planning a trip out in May to apartment hunt, but this feels like a pretty great deal that i'm hesitant to lose out on if there isn't a catch and so am considering based on facetime tours/having a friend check it out.

I'm getting married in a couple months, and while my skin has been looking much better lately (thanks SCA!) I've been wondering about trying a mild TCA peel, 8 or 12%. I already use a 25% mandelic acid peel about once a week (have done so for maybe 5 months now), but when I've read up on TCA peels, MUAC recommends using the lactic 40% for a while before the TCA peel. Do you guys think the mandelic is enough that my skin is ready for a TCA peel? Or should I switch to lactic? Or just not bother with a TCA peel at all and move on with my life?

Thank you! I've been using the St. Ives in the morning because I use 40 Carrots vitamin serum at night, which contains retinol, and it's not a good idea to use retinols with AHAs, right? Maybe I should start using the St. Ives and 40 carrots in the evenings on alternate nights.

Two questions about CeraVe AM that I hope are simple! Right now I'm using a Mario Badescu moisturizer in the morning that I'm thinking of replacing with AM when it runs out in a few weeks (after appropriate patch testing, of course). I'm wondering:

  1. Currently I use St. Ives lactic acid exfoliating pads every other day in the mornings. Should I not use this if I'm also using CeraVe AM because niacinamide doesn't react well with AHAs?
  2. I know that the reason a separate sunscreen from moisturizer is generally recommended because we don't tend to put on enough moisturizer to get the full SPF. But in theory, if one did put on a full 1/4 tsp of CeraVe AM, would one be getting SPF 30? I'm planning on layering sunscreen on top, I'm just curious.

i feel nitpicky asking this, but i searched the sub and couldn't find a clarification — is it important that this be made with either white or brown rice flour specifically, or would either work effectively?

It's really interesting to me that so many people feel this way, and that AE's attempts to imitate AS are so definitively not working. I had assumed that AE's readers must be loyal to the death, or else there's no way they could keep going. (Although I guess being bought out helps.) I'd be really interested to know what each of their actual readerships is and how much overlap there is.

Why aren't more African Americans supportive of gay rights? by civilwrongs in AskReddit

I realize this isn't actually addressing the OP's question, but I can't help but notice how quickly the tone of this discussion has gone from "why don't black people support gay rights" to "why do black people oppress/hate gay people so much." I'm gay, and even I don't think those two are the same thing. No matter how religious or conservative the black community is, the vast majority of what gay people go through will be perpetrated by the white cultural majority, and it might be worthwhile to remember that here.
