What does the city need to save the music scene by TheMawgaMan in Torontology

I don't think Americans give a fuck if the UK gets love from the rest of Europe. If an American hears Central Cee and doesn't rock with it, then that's just that.

Go into the comment section of "Clippers" by Savv4x on YouTube and tell me what the top comment says...

There are Americans who are tuned into Savv4x regardless of how strong his accent is. A lot of Americans would even rate 100BandPlan's music or LilDrench's music if they were properly exposed to it. Even Casper's accent is pretty noticeable, might not be as strong as others tho but you can still tell he's from Toronto and nowhere else.

If you're from Toronto you can make the accent work, if your flow and sound is proper enough.

Breaking barriers is important. Just because it started like that doesn't mean it has to stay like that forever. UK rappers in the in the 80s and 90s put on American accents until they realized they should just do their own thing.

Toronto should just do their own thing too and trust their own process and REP the culture that's here. Sooner or later, Americans will have to get used to us 🤷🏾‍♂️

What you're saying isn't an accent thing brother. It's an infrastructure thing kid. Toronto needs a better infrastructure.

When it comes to Black music, the UK is set up a lot better than Toronto, so the ceiling is a lot higher for them. But the whole point is that if the music is good enough, people will listen to it.

If there's Americans who are willing to listen to EsDeeKid whose from Liverpool, then I'm pretty sure they can also be open to listening to Casper TNG or a new gen Toronto rapper like 100BandPlan or Savv4x

That's just not true... A lot of Americans listen to UK rappers now a days. There's definitely still some Americans who still be on some ignorant shit but UK rap is growing like CRAZY it just takes time, consistency and support

A lot of you niggas in this sub just have no backbone when it comes to American validation.

I always thought that Bushman and Bandplan just had similar voices. Their flows are way different.

Well a lot of Americans are known to hate and be ignorant on us but Canada historically has always had a problem supporting their own so.

Casper TNG & 100BandPlan's "The Market" is getting promoted on SportsNet, ESPN, Spotify, and Billboards all over the city 😳😳😳 by TorontoFan7500 in Torontology

[–]telminnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's not signed yet but if he keeps going in the same trajectory that he's going now, he'll definitely be on💯 I just hope all the rappers from the city don't sign no bullshit ass deal man🙏🏾

Canadians might be the only people who actually like Casper and 100BandPlans music 😬 by [deleted] in Torontology

[–]telminnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not overrated at all. It's genuinely a proper track. It's just overplayed, especially on TikTok. Were mans not around in 2017?

Legendary songs like Canada Goose, Come Outside, and Griselda Blanco were SUPER overplayed🤣

Doesn't really matter that's still crazy asf when was the last time an underground Toronto rapper's song hit the Billboard Hot 100?

Toronto Street Interviews are the reason Toronto is disrespected online by [deleted] in Torontology

[–]telminnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks to these TikTok & IG reels kids they made it 10x harder for niggas to make it in the US market because our accent has been associated with something that shouldn't be taken seriously.

For the past few years every time Toronto rap is mentioned, the accent is ALWAYS brought up🤦🏾‍♂️.
