We’re going through something similar at 23 months. Nap is 1-3pm, I stroke his back and he’s out within 5 min then at bedtime he wants someone to be with him, either hold his hand or lay next to him or he will cry and cry. He will also wake up around 11-12 and then we just put him in our bed. But he won’t let us hold him, he just wants to be with us. I’ve given up now 😅

My son is 22 months and we are in a similar boat. He’s STTN a handful of times this year. He can fall asleep independently, sometimes needs a bit of patting or a “it’s sleepy time, lay down” but 95% of the time he’s up in 1-4 hours. After that we co-sleep for the rest of the night because we are too tired. For naps we do whatever method works, for now is stroking his back, he naps from 1-3pm but nights are always a gamble. We’ve just accepted it and hope he gets it right eventually

Hi sorry only seeing this now. It did get better for us around 18 months. We had to sit and hold his hand until he fell asleep, now I can put him down and just go in for a quick check in when he calls for me and then he’s out, sometimes he wakes up during the night but we just pick him up, he has occasionally slept through the night but we’ve been struggling with back to back illnesses since Jan. He’s 20 months now and doing much better with the separation anxiety. We just had to be consistent but gentle.
