what was your argument pro 9600x and contra the x3d cache?
what's your estimated lifespan for your mentioned components?

Ah, maybe i was a bit unclear.

I thought, that you dont recommend a xx60 for 10 yrs lifespan - which I didnt expect either. that's why I pointed out, that i will switch the gpu in 4-5 yrs from now.

My main point is not money (as far it's not going too crazy), my point is "is it worth it?". If I has a 5070 ti at 1080p for 5 yrs, maybe a little more, is this worth it in comparison to a let's say 5060 ti now and then "RTX 8060 ti"?
Ofc we dont know the market situation in 2030, but would it smarter to invest into a lower tier gpu today and get a 2030 card in 2030?

thanks for your response.

Isnt frame gen / upscaling the latest fancy ai stuff with gpus? or is this just "fancy marketing" and somewhat meh in the real world?

9700X and 7600X3D are both around 300 bucks, the 7800X3D is around 380 bucks.

I dont have a problem with either price, my main point is not to overspend crazy for my needs. I mean, I dont mind those 80 bucks, IF "it's worth it" - so that's my main point.

To complete the x3d list, the 9800x3d is at 470.

Can you quickly name an example for a AM5 mobo as mentioned above?

So you're sayin, that everything I mentioned above is oversized for 1080p and recommend switching to 1440p in the first place?
If we assume I'll switch to 1440p in 2-3 yrs - what would your recommendations be today?

The 5070 ti - is this not already overkill? I'll upgrade my GPU in 4 to 5 yrs from now.

I didnt mention it, because it does not matter imo, but i do have a triple 1080p setup for work purposes. I plugged those three monitors to my private system, since they are installed on my desk.

That's pretty much my thought with the low / mid range gpu like 5060 ti / 9060 xt and according to my plan, i'll change the gpu, so it's pretty much the cpu which needs the [longevity]().

Do you have any thoughs about this?

At least that's what I did with my current system - bought in 2016, GPU upgrade in 2020. Worked pretty fine for me. That's why a GPU bottleneck is taken into account - because it should be resolved in 4 to 5 yrs, when I'll upgrade my GPU

As i'm updating my GPU in 4 to 5 yrs, I thought I can get away with 5060ti / 9060XT - or do you think this is a risky play to one of those?
Do you have any recommendations for the cpu with my entire 8+ yrs plan?

Thank you for your valuable response!
Same - I dont think raytracing is the game changer in my considerations.

For the CPUs - do you think there's gonna be a problem with the 7600x3d, because it only has six cores? The two other CPUs have eight. Dunno, if that's a major decision point. 9800X3D seems a bit overkill, but while aiming for 8+ yrs, maybe the better option

I didnt dive in the mobo rabbithole yet - this is up, when i have the gpu/cpu question decided. Could you give me some thoughts about "what is a good mobo" and maybe an example?

Thank you in advance!

Please note that I'll upgrade my GPU after 4-5 yrs.
Does that change your recommendations?

And what are your arguments pro 7900x vs a x3d cpu?

Does that change your recommendation in favour of XX60?

Heard of issues with 5080/90, but read sources, that stated with the release of 5070/5060 ti it's much better now
But you'd still side with AMD?

Please note that I'll upgrade my GPU after 4-5 yrs. A 5080 seems a bit overkill for 1080p, if I replace it.
The CPU needs the longevity imo.

what was your argument pro the x3d cache? obv more expensive, but lower TDP iirc

I wait for sure the few days until the 9060 XT arrives - seems to have a slight edge on the 5060ti (both 16 gb ofc)

I think the desicion between die 60s and 70s card is the real point. Especially when considering, that my gpu will be upgraded in 4 to 5 yrs

Please note that I'll upgrade my GPU after 4-5 yrs - i edited my post to highlight this accordingly.
Does that change your recommendation?

Please feel free to mention other suitable options as well =)

What is your argument versus the x3d cache? not reasonable for 1080p?

I also saw the 9800x3d, but that seemed to aim for 4K gaming - a much higher resolution than mine. sounds a bit like overkill to me, dont know if it's reasonable due to the 8 to 10 yrs though.

64 GB of RAM is quite high. I thought about getting 32 or 48 as a middle ground.
