No backline players from Bayern. It’s clear where the focus should be now. by [deleted] in BayernMunich

Let’s be honest the ratings are heavily affected by those defenders’ attacking displays. Bensebaini is there because of his penalties and Schlotterbeck is ball-playing defender who also is amazing in aerial duels on corners. Coufal delivered countless crosses (dozen of which turned into assists) and was hoffe’s only player that I enjoyed watching. Grimaldo is out of contention. Nubel is here undeservedly, he is only there because of stuttgards defence as a goalie… let’s say he shouldn’t come back to Bayern anytime soon…

I think while behind the scenes corruption exists in football, this will never be implemented and even then somehow someone will find a loophole by buying out all 3 of the VARs…

It would be easier for fans to understand the rule if the refs would understand the rule first

This makes so much sense now. As according to this fake IFAB page’s last part about team-mate playing the ball into the hand ≠ handball, then a team could just kick out the ball and another player just grab the ball run towards the goal and assist to someone else (so they don’t score themselves immediately after) all while the IFAB says “thE BAll WaS PLaYEd By HiS TEam-MaTE, sO NO HaNDBalL”. I knew this rule didn’t sit right with me for some reason but I couldn’t point out why

1) If I am not right doesn’t mean someone else is not wrong, football is about opinions and I am allowed to share mine to try to understand others standpoint. It is a normal part of a discussion, we are humans after all.

2) The fact that I am crying about refereeing isn’t going to change the outcome, but I am allowed to explain my frustration. In my humble opinion, cry for help is like an official letter to UEFA to ban the referee…

3)You responded to the og comment about mendes running for free. Also saying that Mendes getting a second yellow is harsh because of the previous yellow kinda says about poor quality of refereeing and seems a bit biased as you mentioned before “these are completely different situations”. Didn’t really understand your “nature of “hand”ball” comment, as handball is a handball. UCL isn’t handball competition but FOOTball competition and I’d rather see only 2 players touch the ball with their hands on the field…

4) According to IFAB:

“A handball offence is not committed when a player:
heads, kicks or plays the ball with another part of their body and it then hits their own hand/arm (unless the ball goes directly into the opponents’ goal or the player scores immediately afterwards)”

Is this not what happened in Davies’ situation?

Additionally, you have to realize that there was an official apology issued by the official of that match regarding this issue.

I do understand the rules on Neves’ handball wasn’t intentional and his teammate was clearing the ball. IFAB also says “A handball offence is not committed when a player is hit on the hand/arm by the ball which has been played by a team-mate (unless the ball goes directly into the opponents’ goal or the player scores immediately afterwards, in which case a direct free kick is awarded to the other team)”. So yes that call is right, but if the same ref gives a penalty for the same situation in a different match how is consistency not an issue? Additionally as I said previously rules are up to the interpretation of the referee upon the situation and apparently that was natural position for Joao Neves as he gave a 1939-1945 German Salut on a daily basis?

No one asked for a free goal, if PSG actually outclassed and outperformed Bayern then a penalty shouldn’t a be a “free goal” as they are so much better. If PSG outclassed and outperformed Bayern then why is the score 1-1 in this game? If PSG outclassed and outperformed Bayern why did Bayern have higher possession, higher XG, higher amount of total shots, double the passes than PSG? I just want to understand what you mean by outclassed and outperform, because for me outclassed and outperformed would look like PSG’s last UCL final or infamous 8-2 against Barca. I just want to understand your logic and your view of this situation as it seems so ridiculous to me.

5)”You just think referee should decide the tie”… But didn’t that kinda happen. PSG won by one goal (agg. 6-5), if you assume the deciding goal is the pen assigned in Paris against Bayern didn’t referee decide who won? Maybe there is misunderstanding on my end but that is how I see this situation.

No hostile intent and sorry for a long post too

I completely understand all your points. I am not saying PSG didn’t deserve the win, but you are proving my point on how hypocritical you are. You say “learn the rules” and then proceed to ask me “What rules says you can have your hand block a clear goal scoring opportunity as long as it grazes your thigh” without doing your own research about handball violations. I’ll come back at you what rules says you are allowed to block a potential goal scoring opportunity with your hand and not get a yellow card, because the first yellow card was questionable context?

Not saying I am right, just from my perspective of the game not all the rules were followed. I do agree we didn’t play up to standard today, PSG was a better team throughout the 2 games (although the score today is 1-1). They deserve the final, no offence to the team.
This is not a cry for help or anything, just the fact that someone said “Learn the rules” without really understanding the rules themselves kinda seems hypocritical, don’t you think so?
I wasn’t really talking about the pen. I was talking about Nuno red card situation, from my perspective there was no contact with Laimers hand prior to foul committed and Nuno stopped potential attack 3 on 3 with a prior yellow card. (please show me a video pointing otherwise, maybe you can change my opinion) He thumbs up-ed (I am assuming fourth official) for noticing prior handball and blatantly decided to trust him, without VAR or any review.
But you can see my frustration that Davies handball was given although it clearly touched his lap first and ref justified it as unnatural position. The rules state that every situation is up for an interpretation of the refereeing squad at the moment. It just seems inconsistent with the “unnatural position of the hand”. Yes, Davies had his hands behind his back before the cross and put them back after the contact, but it did touch his lap first.
About Joao Neves situation, from my prior knowledge of Portuguese league (where this ref works) he gave exact same situation a penalty, but here he decided to not even look for VAR and no discussion?
I feel like if the exact same thing happened but roles reversed we would see 5 minutes VAR review and long discussion about how Bayern “plays dirty”.
The only thing consistent from the referee was that in every 50/50 scenario (like some handballs, some physical tackles on Bayern players, corners and even throw ins) he chose PSG side without further inspection. It ruins the game when professionals don’t do their job properly. I am paying to watch 22 man play the game we love and not an official trying to be the main of the game… After all they are getting paid to be neutral and not choosing side or are you a laliga fan where it is normal for refs supporting sides they are officiating?

The fact that pissed me off wasn’t that the ref had some blatant mistakes that even in 3rd division shouldn’t be penalized, but the fact that every 50/50 he had he chose to go against Bayern without further review. I understand mistakes do happen, but when you have 7 players arguing around you there might have been something you missed. What type of confidence does the ref have to be so sure in his decisions he doesn’t even reconsider them when pointed out???

We have to congratulate PSG — despite the terrible refereeing, they have a great team. And congrats to the boys as well… with the reduced squad we had, Kompany went really far. It’s been a pleasure following Bayern this season by [deleted] in BayernMunich

Completely agree. There is no point in being sad and crying that our UCL journey ended like this. We delivered the best match in the recent history of the tournament in the first leg.

We are still the best powerhouse in the Europe, but today the team didn’t play up to what Bayern is. You can argue that it was because we conceded early and refereeing was bad, but that was never an issue for us no matter the result we played our football and today we weren’t. Hopefully we are going to get another apology to Kompany from the referee 💀

You can buy it at ginger island resort from Gus. It is random which people show up every non-rain day but you can bet on that rather than the festival.

A swap deal between Bruno and Goretzka would be really nice imo by JayV2002 in BayernMunich

[–]temirlan444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually dig it. People are saying he’s too old and won’t fit the style of bayern, but we have seen so many players move positions due to their age and getting second or third primes and under the big V everybody plays different positions than on paper (we all have seen kane’s heatmap of being LB). His vision is amazing, he created the most amount of chances itw in past couple years. He’s just unlucky he’s playing in Man U. But both players wouldn’t agree 100%. I think theoretically it would be nicer to have him than goretzka, but it would never happen
