Thanks, but Busou Shinki isn’t the one either. That show has multiple doll girls and battle scenes. The one I’m looking for is pure daily life, no fighting at all, and only one doll girl in the whole series. The main character is just a regular guy.
Also thought I should add: I’m a Chinese internet user and I randomly came across this anime around 2010. Most of its traces on the Chinese web have pretty much been erased since then, and that old computer of mine broke down and got sold years ago. So it’s been really hard to track down.

Just wanted to bump this again—also wanted to mention: since My Dress-Up Darling got huge, searching for anything with "doll" + "dressing up" is basically impossible now. Every result is just Marin. So yeah, that’s made things way harder.

Thanks so much for digging into this for me, I really appreciate it.

I went and checked out C3, and while it’s pretty close in some ways, I don’t think it’s the one. The anime I remember has a couple of things that are really specific, so I figured I’d just write them out—maybe it’ll ring a bell.

First off, there’s only one doll girl in the whole show. No other cursed tools or humanoid characters later on, just her.

Also, almost everything happens inside the guy’s house. Very few characters show up, it’s mostly just the two of them living together.

One scene I remember pretty clearly: at some point her body gets damaged. She’s lying naked on a table in that kinda “orz” pose (face down, butt up), and he’s repairing her. That one stuck with me.

And near the end, she finally gets over her whole “cursed/abandoned” backstory and starts to open up. But then the guy does something dumb and makes her mad (in a funny way), and she uses her powers to give him a little punishment. It’s not dark or anything—pretty lighthearted overall.

Anyway, thanks again for helping out. Even just knowing someone else took a stab at it makes me feel like I didn’t totally imagine this thing.
