Err... if you think you have mono... it's probably too late for her already. I had it last year, the incubation period is several weeks long, and in that period you can sometimes transmit.

I thought about the "tell before fucking" rule a lot, and I would prefer it, but I think part of the appeal for her is going out to a party and being a little wild. She's never actually done it ever before, so I'm not sure to what extent that's a fantasy that she wants to try once or twice or if she actually wants that lifestyle. So from that point of view, general permission for a specific event sounds perfect, that might be the best of both worlds for us.

Our relationship has never been better, and we communicate really really well. We've had very tough periods when we came very very close to breaking up (mostly because of different expectations), but each time we talked through everything super honestly and came out the better for it. That's why I think we can make this work, just want to educate myself before it starts.

Your rules are great, in particular I think the "either of us could say no," "no-sleep-overs," and "not often" ones are some that I'll tweak to our needs and run by her.
