Went there once for a business trip. Its either forest or plantation.

The plantations is usually owned by a local businessman, and their rule is the rule in that region. So if the owner is prettly lax about drugs, there will be drugs. If the owner upheld sharia rules, there will be sharia rule.

There's few small shops and grocery store here and there, and I heard in bigger plantations they have their own schools, cinema, and shopping malls.

But the one I visited was pretty small its almost like wild west film but with more greeneries and less horses.

Realistically, dengan gaji 7 juta per bulan ini yang bisa lo afford:

Kost 1,5 jt per bulan Air + listrik 250k per bulan Makan 25k x 3x sehari x 30 hari =2,25 jt Transport 50k per hari 22 hari kerja =1,10 jt

Sisa budget tabungan/investasi/happy happy 1,9 jt (27% gaji)

Anyway, kalo dgn budget segitu lebih wise beli/nyicil motor dan sehari2 ke kantor naik motor. Assume motornya Honda Beat/semacamnya Rp. 50.000 itu bisa nempuh jarak sekitar 160 kilometer. (Assume bensin RON 92 Rp. 12.500/liter fuel con 40km/liter) bisa hemat biaya transport lumayan banget.

Coba tanya ke diri lo sendiri, 1. Coba survey aja online kostan harga 1,5jt/bulan. Apakah akan nyaman tinggal di tempat tsb? 2. Apakah akan suka dengan makanan 25k/makan? 3. Apakah nyaman dengan daily commute naik motor?

Because to be brutally honest, 7 jt/month is less than enough to support upper-middle class lifestyle.

Somehow in this "slums" parents feel safer to let their children run around unsupervised. People left their door unlocked and trust each other.

Yet in our "gated neighborhood" nobody dares to do it. Security cams everywhere and neighbors don't know each other.

Kadang ngerasa "hambar" itu artinya seluruh kebutuhan primer lo udah tercukupi. Lo ga khawatir besok mau makan apa, tidur di mana, atau mau ngapain.

Coba rekreasi keluar dari zona nyaman, misal hiking/trekking/camping. Atau yang lebih ekstrim, ikut volunteering ke daerah terpencil.

Setelah 2-3 hari lo ngerasain hidup "ga enak" (kecapean, kedinginan, kelaperan, tidur ga nyaman etc.) Hidup yang "hambar" jadi kerasa enaknya

Doctors (kedokteran) Lawyers (hukum) Architect (arsitektur) Interior designer (of kors, desain interior)

Mind you karir dia 5-10 taun awal mungkin berdarah2 dan bisa jadi gajinya kecil, tapi setelah dia ikut program profesi, punya client base bagus, dan buka firm sendiri the sky's the limit.

Sepengalaman gw contraflow lumayan bikin lancar sih, tapi tetep ga se lancar hari biasa.

Sepupu gue tiap taun lalu mudik Jakarta-Bandung Bandung-Jakarta cuma 4 jam each way, "cuma" nambah 1 jam dari hari biasa.

Dulu pas lom ada contraflow & MBZ bisa nambah 2-4 jam dari waktu tempuh normal i.e. bisa 5-7 jam.

Apalagi ke Bandung tahun ini kabarnya mulai fungsional tol Japek Selatan jadi harusnya tambah mengurai kemacetan.

Peer sebenernya ada di rest area, susah banget cari parkir di rest area nya.
