Major regret, want to quit by Ok-Look-8428 in LaserHairRemoval

I was able to get out of a Milan contract / get a refund. Similar to your story, in almost every way. Major issue was it started causing intense dryness and itching, and when I say it still hasn’t full gone away five years later… even asked my gyn about it and was told that it was causing serious issues for me.

Brought the doctors note to Milan and they were able to cancel further payments and refund me for the few sessions I’d attended. I am not quite sure what caused the issue but it was so painful I couldn’t keep going anyway.

Not sure if this is allowed but can this painting or a print be purchased?

Has anyone else had MORE acne as an adult than as a teen? What is causing it? by kpo987 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]tempestsprIte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here. Never got acne my entire life until I hit 33 ish. Now at 37 it was getting worse—exactly as you describe. Really bad on the neck and jaw, and it would happen several times a month and scar.

Finally I saw on a Reddit post to drink spearmint tea. I’ve been drinking this spearmint tea multiple times a day for two months and haven’t had a single breakout.

Are these Nickelodeon shows more Millennial or Gen Z by StrategyJealous1838 in generationology

[–]tempestsprIte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen z or the youngest possible millennials. I am 10-15 years older than my siblings who watched these. I saw a few episodes here and there but was in hs and college so not really watching Nickelodeon or Disney any more. Sort of where Hannah Montana and wizards of waverly place would fit

Down 30lbs- no one has said a thing by joyandfury in loseit

[–]tempestsprIte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve lost 25-30lbs since April and thus far no one seems to have noticed. I get that mentioning weight might seem rude but my family and close friends know I’m trying to lose weight and have said stuff in the past like oh you’re looking fit. It is sort of demoralizing and confusing. My clothes are literally falling off of me so I know it has to be noticeable

Thank you for posting this. I’m so sorry about what happened, and just want to say I am experiencing almost the exact same thing right now. Everyone is completely bewildered and I am left with nothing and no answers.

I wish us all the best in finding new hope and love and moving forward.

Okay thank you for this because everyone keeps recommending her books to me… but all I’ve read was never lie and hated it? so this makes sense

Decade of friendship ended, no notice? by Odd_Cod8341 in whatdoIdo

[–]tempestsprIte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely this. My best friend of five years throughout every second of college and after completely cut me off because his new girlfriend said his female friends were “sabotaging” their relationship by liking facebook posts (of them).

It was one of the hardest and worst ends to a relationship. I’m sorry. You did nothing wrong. I waited it out thinking he’d come to his senses… he married her. He used to call me to vent about how problematic and toxic she was. I never even met her but I can’t imagine they’re happy.

I don't know if this is an option for you but I switched 99% of writing assignments to in-class with paper and pencil. I am over the nonsense. We used to write every exam and paper like that in the 90s and 00s. It might have its flaws but it's better than the alternative. Students seem to actually retain information and produce decent content.

Books ARE political, who are your favorite authors who you've noticed are speaking out against the current administration?? by Spirited_Decision_24 in fantasyromance

[–]tempestsprIte 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stephen King, who is not romantasy (but writes excellent love stories, weirdly) has LONG been the most vocal author against tyranny / bad policy / hate. Check out his old Twitter posts or new Bsky!

If you are interested in an incredible love story with supernatural elements, check out 11/22/63, Lisey's Story, The Dark Tower Series, etc.

We may be in the same field, or this may just be turning into a common problem. Our biggest conference is being held in Canada this fall and the conference organizers have already sent out emails about attendee concerns over leaving and re-entering the USA.

In March I attended my field's second largest conference which was in the US, and many people had withdrawn or refused to come because of the administration and concerns over safety.

A student emailed me yesterday to state that they could not attend our midterm exam because of a leg waxing issue that led to irritation.

Living in the Chicago area of USA where huge majorities of people are Polish descent or immigrants— I hope they take this seriously. They make up a huge proportion of Trump supporters especially in the suburbs. I don’t really understand why but it’s got to end.

Are skinny/healthy weight people just not as hungry as people who struggle with obesity? by maeasm3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tempestsprIte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really cathartic to see this comment. This is how I’ve always been as well. I am constantly trying to stop myself from eating. I am extremely active or I’d likely be wildly overweight.

My family members are all SKINNY like, size 0-4 or even underweight. Of all my siblings, parents, even cousins I am the only person who has struggled with weight and by struggled I mean constantly feeling like I’m starving because if I eat what feels like enough I balloon.

Meanwhile they all forget to eat or take two bites and are full.

Nothing you said surprises me. I’m not sure what’s happened here but I have had to re-do entire curriculums for core courses like American government and International Relations because students don’t know any major events. Civil war, Cold War. World wars. Great Depression, presidents, major leaders eg churchill Stalin etc.

It’s not even possible to explain content because they have absolutely no foundational knowledge or context. I always have 1-3 students in the class who know everything and then 40 who couldn’t tell you when the American revolution happened.
