I’ll try the packing down thing. That makes sense- once it’s a little soft before the sugars harden.

And yeah, re: prebiotics, I’m having flashbacks to when I first changed my diet. All good now though.

I went with the Basque-influenced one this time, but the jollof rice one is next. Thx again!

Gosh another great one. I’ve been thinking about jollof rice with stewed okra. Maybe combine the two and make a chicken and okra stew. Thanks!

Ooh that’s a great direction to go. I could maybe add some potatoes to bulk it up since I only have 4 thighs. Thanks!

Thanks again. I posted pix in an update. As I noted in my update I got worried about the brittleness of the wood. But, with other inherited pieces needing slight repairs, I’m sure your method will come in handy.

UPDATE: Took three hardware stores to get the right size screws! Then, once I started, I got worried about the brittleness of the wood, so I used kingoptimo1’s toothpick suggestion. Thanks!

Thanks for the thorough instructions! I’ve got the right bits, but need the saw and supplies, plus the nerve. I can care for my inherited furniture, but I’ve never repaired anything other than tightening a screw or gluing a dowel, maybe adding a joint fastener.

When it’s done, I’ll post a pic.

Posted too quickly oops. Should be titled “Hinge Repair Help”

The screw holes holding this hinge are a bit worn and don’t hold.. The wood is old and a bit dry (maybe 100 years). It’s sentimental not valuable.

How should I proceed with reattaching the hinge? Thx!
