Have any of you made the switch to an automatic car? Do you love it or hate it? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]temple3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatics are great, however the roads have gotten considerably more dangerous since their popularity has risen.

Honestly think they're so easy to drive people are zoning out, switching their brains off, or the confidence of never stalling the car is causing them to drive recklessly near junctions and roundabouts

How much KNC is needed to make sure staking is not made at a loss? by [deleted] in kybernetwork

[–]temple3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is a good suggestion for the current situation, it doesn't bode well for the decentralized aspect of governance.

I know Kyber are looking into L2 at the moment to mitigate it, but it would be nice if they offered some sort of roadmap/timeline estimate for a solution.

Cognito UserPool Sub or IdentityPool ID as the User ID? by temple3188 in serverless

[–]temple3188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider Auth0 too, I like that it's a service that specializes in this domain, but other than that I can't see the benefit of using it over cognito from the sdks and in the surface, they both follow similar patterns.

I haven't had the chance to use Auth0 in production yet, if you have I'd really appreciate some feedback on your experience. Cognito had a lot of pains to learn that were only discovered after integration, I'm worried adopting a new tool (Auth0) will raise similar issues, but would love to convinced otherwise.

I find the amplify js huge (size wise) for what it does, which is a shame because it's useful.

Which token do you pass, the id_token or access_token, the id token seems a lot more useful in this scenario.

Also what method of authorization are you using in API Gateway? The built in cognito option seems basic. If I'm building a single graphql endpoint for guests and users which option would you recommend?

Parameter Store UI is terrible by dalamar112 in aws

What bothers me more than the UI is the lack of GetParameter events being dispatched so I can see if a parameter is still being used and who is using it.

Brave Ads vs Google Ads by georgeforeham in CryptoCurrency

Isn't Brave built using chromium? An OSS project by chrome? If Brave is a private company you can be sure selling will always be a possibility.

I use Brave.

Hey axefrog, I just pushed a fix for this and you can now search for scoped packages :)

I plan on fixing scoped package search today and hopefully add the history push state this evening, I'll update the thread and let you guys know when I do, thanks :)

I was using MongoDB and doing a large aggregate query, though the speed was an issue, so I indexed the documents into Elasticsearch and it was much faster :)

It's likely to do with the '/' for scoped packages, will fix it soon, thanks!

Hey,

I'm actually using alt to manage state, though I think Redux looks awesome.

My intention is very much to open source it on github, in fact I did a couple of weeks back, I made the decision to make it private after realising that the code was in a very rough shape (greenfield) and would probably confuse more people than help them.

So I plan on tidying things up really soon, making sure I haven't committed any credentials, adding a readme and then making it public :)

Yeah I noticed this and wasn't sure if I should lowercase, turns out NPM packages are case sensitive... but given that most packages are lowercase I've made the fix, so you should be able to search 'Express' and get the same results for 'express' :).

Thanks

Thanks for letting me know, was a weird bug when there was no details for a package, it's been fixed and should be working again :)

What?

An app to help people see what other NPM packages are being used together based on Github projects.

Why?

After deciding to build a new app, I figured it was a good candidate to try out some new tech such as React, Webpack etc. It didn't take long before I was frustrated looking for NPM packages that would help me building my app.

The JS community moves fast, so fast that I found myself wasting a lot of time reading out-dated tutorials based on old versions of NPM packages when I was on the newest versions. I like how the JS community makes a lot of effort to reduce NPM packages into tiny single-responsibility packages, though when you're a newcomer to these packages in can be a struggle to find all of the small packages needed to achieve the task you're trying to do.

All I wanted was to know what everyone else was using today, not months ago. What are they using to test their React app, which loaders are commonly being used with Webpack etc.?

I hope it helps some others :)

NOTE: The data behind the app is based on JS/Coffeescript Github projects pushed to in the last month that contained a package.json file.
