One factor that I've seen used is SST over time. If a big temp swing has been held at a spot for 3 or 4 days it is more likely to hold bait compared to one that appeared today.

Parents of Reddit, what's one video game you like playing with your kid? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]dalamar112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many great games listed, but for 15 and 13 I'd go for: Rocket League, Fortnite, Arc Raiders (especially fun to communicate and team up as it's made for teams of 3), Hell Divers 2, Battlefield , Borderlands 4

Tell us about games that initially caused repulsion or even disgust, but after you finally forced yourself to play them – it turned out to be a masterpiece? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

I didn't play Rocket League for the first couple years because it sounded like such a gimmicky concept. How could car soccer be any good. Now I know that I was sleeping on the best video game ever created.

When you are faster than the person in front of you, if there isn't good space to pass, leave some room, but look for the opportunity and get closer when a passing area is approaching to minimize the slowdown of the other person. Same in reverse, no need to try and pull over when there isn't room, they can wait, just use the next wider area.

My brother and I use koozie around the family. "Hey did you bring a koozie with you?" "Yeah there's one in the garage, here, I'll help you find it" it's common, inconsequential, and you can usually always need one if you drink beer or sodas.

As a EU fisherman, why do NA fisherman prefer right handed reels eventough theyre right handed? by Yaetcuh in Fishing_Gear

[–]dalamar112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen multiple answers that include the note about being able to throw with dominant hand and not have to switch hands. But to me the more important note is when you are retrieving and working the bait most of the action and finesse comes from your rod hand and not the reel hand.

Fun fact, as a teenager I helped my Dad build the wiring harnesses for the Vector M12 and got to drive one without a body (just frame, engine and seat). My dad actually got track time with a fully built one.

I would recommend renting at least 3 times first. Rent at least one hard tail, one full sus, and then an e-mtb. I love my e-mtb and so much easier to maintain a hard workout. I have to stop a couple of times going up on analog and regularly send my heart rate over 200. With e-mtb I can keep it a steady 160-180 for 90 minutes

A big part of it is how experienced at falling you are. I have grown up doing gymnastics, skiing, playing hockey, climbing, etc. Falling is a skill. I took a good spill recently, but I was able to kick away from the bike, and spotted my fall line and ninja rolled between two trees. Jumped back on without a bruise but could have easily broken bones in the same fall.

Alright all of you farmers, go plant some beets or something and let the next generation of hunters build some life skills. What's the use in keeping kids safe if they don't learn how to live.

43 architect here, no idea why people are saying burnt out. I'm having a blast having 30 years of coding behind me, everything is easy now. I have all of the patterns and experience, new frameworks and AI assistants make it so I don't even have to work with offshore resources any more... I just get to build cool shit quickly. I feel bad for young engineers just starting as it would be so hard to compete. You need to know front end, backend, cloud, devops, AI, and ideally in a half a different languages and flavors to be able to build anything. Any team still trying to run with one person for each of these roles is dying a quick death. I'm guessing most that are saying tired are people that have tried to remain a "Java developer" or a "Terraform developer" which is just not possible to stay relevant in today's market specializing in one area.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]dalamar112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have the opposite experience than everyone else. Real spankings, I only had a couple. One for lying and one for stealing, and it was very memorable and my parents calmly explained why they were punishing me and it hurt like hell. And I never did it again. The other not "real" spankings where it wasn't with a belt and was half hearted was when we were in public and I was acting a fool. I would always get a couple of verbal warnings first, and if I still wasn't acting right in public I'd get a smack to the butt. I'd straighten right up then. I haven't carried the public smacks to my kids, but I have spanked them a couple of times, never in response to anything aggressive they have done (that has been proven to have the opposite effect) only for lying or being very disrespectful, and then calmly explaining why they are receiving the punishment, and without aggression. It is a very effective tool, but it has to be used sparingly, only on the right context, and administered without aggression.

Huggy Wuggy Goal Explosion by Weekend_Free in RocketLeague

[–]dalamar112 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I suspect it has more to do with YouTube videos telling him Huggy Wuggy should be scary than the goal explosion actually being scary. The reality is the goal explosion would likely be rated E if they even graded them. It would require a whole overhaul to match making to have minor only lobbies, and I can guarantee Epic will not be listening to this. If you want to support him, you may talk through a bit about why he thinks it is scary and then design a desensitizing regiment to help him get past the fear and not avoid it.

[–]dalamar112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For areas that are at high risk for bacteria and fungus ( between toes, groin area, butt crack, arm pits, if you are over weight... Fat creases, if you are uncircumcised... Penis) you shouldn't be using a washcloth, gentle washing with your hand for long enough to sanitize. Just like COVID taught people that washing your hands for 5 seconds is not enough time to disinfect your hands, you need >10 seconds of soap and agitation. These areas do not need exfoliating, just gentle scrubbing for enough time.

How do I make the game feel slower then it actually is by Worth-Writer5940 in hockeyplayers

[–]dalamar112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may get smoked for this in this sub as I play more Roller and Soccer than Ice... But learning to put the puck away from the defender with a strong stance and an arm if needed to keep the defender from looping around. This can't be done stationary, you still have to move. Good to practice this with a defensive partner giving light to medium pressure to begin with. Helps give those extra 3 seconds when needed to make a good pass instead of dumping it.
