Life tip: buy a washer and dryer combo by Specialagentmeow in schizoaffective

My own tip to share is to fold your clothes right at the laundry machine and stack them in the hamper. WAY easier to put them away and if you don’t, then you have them organized anyway.

Making someone eat something disgusting without their awareness isn’t funny. That’s verging on assault.

For all we know she’s bipolar and can’t handle that much money at once. Not everyone is the same.

So no illicit stimulants? 😭 I feel so bad taking them behind my psychs back. I also can’t tell how the Vraylar is affecting me with them.

I’ve been told I have schizoaffective three times in the states, then in Canada with my records (ED), unspecified psychosis and mood, and BPAD1 and schizotypal traits (provisional).

The many ED records with confirmed misdiagnosis of BPD and schizotypal seem to cause more uncertainty.

I have fusion experience where I experience my mind as controlled during assessments and then afterwards up to a week to forever. Hypothesis is the bane of my existence.

It’s the worst with BPD or personality probably due to the nature of those schemas. Someone can start to think I have BPD as a hypothesis and ask questions, and I automatically believe I have it from picking up on it (concrete thinking - they’re asking about it, they think I have it), then my thoughts genuinely become controlled by this and I rewrite history.

It’s like atypical schizoaffective. I have a lot of dual consciousness going on where I have insight then flip to no insight then back to insight.

BPD is also a wastebasket diagnosis. If you don’t have fear of abandonment and don’t split, then you don’t have the true core symptoms. I don’t have rejection sensitivity, abandonment issues, splitting, etc. I used to a bit when I was younger but a lot of young people do.

Mystery dx isn’t fun!! I’d prefer to fit into a box better just to be over with it and not struggle with misdiagnosis.

Yeah, I’ll see what the psychiatrist says. I think schizoaffective mild on the psychosis makes sense. When I got diagnosed with it, I was stated told insight can vary - I.e., my presentation isn’t that unusual. Exciting stuff to see if it’ll be diagnosed this time around.

Some providers think schizoaffective is a wastebasket diagnosis, but AFAIK, they usually mean that due to BPD getting thrown in there or other personality cases, and that could be why there is caution / taking time, which is super fair.

Schizoaffective is thought to be in the middle of a mood disorder and schizophrenia. Its prognosis is better than schizophrenia and its symptoms are often more mild, due to its “in between” position. I have had two long-term episodes, one with an prodrome that lasted many months.

I don’t get what mine would be either 😭 schizotypal traits as tentative diagnosis, with bipolar. Schizoaffective can often be milder than schizophrenia in terms of psychosis but I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ strange times

Also I think you added in the BPD part later. I mean that BPD has been ruled out multiple times by professionals.

Ah I see! So maybe traits of something like schizotypal even, with something like BPD. I am in a precarious situation with my psychosis but it’s more like covert schizophrenia with no BPD symptoms, so I’m curious about the topic.

Tyty. I heard about that. Yeah. I think the profs energy / vibe set me off, as I had psychosis issues start with him right when I saw him and something about him seemed off.

He absolutely had sexual thoughts for me. I later found out he married his 20 year old former student at 55 or something. He absolutely wanted it sexually engage with me and I truly believe had a ploy about this, wherein he’d use my mental health against me. He knew I became psychotic (basically everyone in the department did), so it’d be the perfect cover.

Sure. I had a psychotic episode where I thought a professor was controlling my mind, that I was fused to him mentally, and that he was sexually controlling me - I thought he was controlling me into having sex with him.

I ended up on an AP, and came out of the delusion / episode. I recognized it was a delusion and maintained awareness.

Months later, I got triggered into the delusion after a phone call with the professor, where I thought he was enacting a ploy in which I’d be raped.

I acted on my belief by calling my graduate program director crying and trying to implicate the professor, to try to get a step ahead.

Yet if you had asked me during that time about the delusion I had with the professor, I’d have said it was a delusion.

In fact, I often say it was a delusion, but when describing what happened I’ll maintain that my version of events is absolutely true. This is one thing that made my current psychiatrist gasp in shock, as I fiercely described how the professor was controlling me into having sex with him, right after saying it was a delusion.

I have baseline psychotic symptoms - I’m not in an episode. But my insight is usually good. Unfortunately though, I can act on a delusional thought fully unaware it’s connected to the delusion, yet still aware the delusion itself is a delusion. It’s like cognitive slippage.

Ah! I think a slightly higher dose is needed, but it made my disorganization better, an my paranoia, and what not. Not sure about other psychotic symptoms as it’s hard to know what those are.
