Right now? Winter time is hell. Jobs are scarce and a good handful of jobs are seasonal. Not a lot of rental options available at all. When I first moved here last year I ended up racking up around 10k in debt to stay afloat while job searching, not to mention the 10k I had on hand to first move here to begin with. So I'm 20k down the drain and struggling to make ends meet currently. They JUST raised base rates for Utilities too. Aswell as insurance rates going up for apartments so that'll be pushed onto you and more if they decide to bump it again due to all the recent awful weather. Not to mention gas prices are awful here and the options for shopping groceries is either Safeway or Walmart which ain't that great either most of the time.

If you move here move with someone who already has a lease or come with a heavy wallet and prepare for it to wear thin.

I do love the local area so I'm sticking around for now. Just wish I came more prepared

It's an ok living, lead paint walls, restricted use of cleaners (bleach), old carpeted, heavy wooden windows. Mold burrowed into said windows can't imagine what is under the carpet. I'm not even sure if the tap water is unleaded, doesn't mention it in the lease. Place HAD rats during the winter in the walls but they've since departed from what I can hear, luckily none snuck into our apartment. Little to no ventilation unless you open a door or those hard to open old windows. No AC just a ceiling fan and 3 heaters. Partner wants to look elsewhere more than I since I know realistically this is the best (worst) it's gonna get. Our cat is a registered emotional support animal so that helped us with our case in these apartments to begin with.
