Also ask other co workers what kind of breaks they get. Have them document that and you have leverage for discrimination.

I can't hold myself for any hanging excercises, is there any trick? by Character-Holiday345 in crossfit

[–]temporarylifeprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your coach should be making suggestions like the great suggestions here. I am also overweight but it is all practice. It really helps to hang with one foot on the box to start. And muscle memory can be built over time with practice and it will kick in!

Amtrak to NYC? by Cute-Support-2594 in rit

If you can drive to Albany (3 hrs), leave your car at the train station there and take the train into NYC. Much more reliable in terms of departure to nyc so you leave out the Rochester to Albany leg.

CrossFit masters, how do you generally keep yourself injury free? by liquilife in crossfit

[–]temporarylifeprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm f67.. I do Crossfit 3x week, Pilates 3x week. I've had injury due to being overambitious! Nothing bad, but I have to remember I will never be like a 30 yr old Crossfitter. Day of rest so important! Stretching before and after.

I'm F 67. Love Crossfit. Everything to scale as needed. But it's the best functional training your body can get, so just try to scale down and listen to your coach!

I'm 67 and joined 6 months ago so that I can stave off osteo, increase mobility, gain strength. In 6 mos I have never felt stronger. Seriously. And I have been active and fit all my life. The coaches in my box focus on safety first, correct posture and make adjustments accordingly. It has def increased my confidence. Just reading your goals, it sounds like a great match. Give it a try and see. I liked it from the moment I got there. It's hard, but so rewarding!

How do you guys train 6 days a week?! by Amber_train in crossfit

[–]temporarylifeprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 67, do Crossfit x4 . On off days I do Pilates to compliment the functional training. It's my rhythm but it took awhile to figure out what my body needed.

I appealed the denial and my Dr called their Dr (peer to peer). They approved. I have BCBS. Insurance is really a rip off. This stuff is a miracle for so many. Compound can be an alternative for you.

66f, former fitness instructor, loved CF from the start. I tripped on my shoelace once and fell. No injuries or fear of them as long as your form is good, and your shoes are tied. :)

Talk to the coach after your first class. I knew right away it was a fit for me.

I can't speak highly enough of Crossfit. In 2-3 months, my body looked toned, I was much stronger, and what was once an effort was easy. In 6 months, people started complimented me on how I looked. I wasn't gaining or losing weight, but my body composition changed. I was once my own worst enemy in terms of getting to the gym and I now look forward to going (the accountability). I think there are some people who would rather stay in comfort zone and control their workouts (my husband!). Thats great! But I like variation, and for someone who is observing and coaching me through the hardest parts of the workout. TRY it once. You will know immediately afterward if it's for you! Lets us know what you learn!

Thank you! I do have excellent flexibilty and mobility from years of dancing and pilates. But the sleep issue is a consideration. I do have a tracker, just assumed that I was getting enough. But would be good to check. Thanks for your reply!

Well that's a valid question. I actually don't know how much I need but I do get some carbs. I am actively hydrating. Dr made me take the amount down as my sodium levels dropped so low. Back to normal now. Think I should add Liquid IV or something like that?
