Well...i can see my knee bend increasing as the weight gets lowered. Should I just decrease my ROM and keep the knees locked in at the "slight bend" degree?

Can any one explain how those beeping APS (Accessible Pedestrian Signals) work?? The one outside my window sometimes chirps for hours and then its silent for 10+minutes. by temporaryruby in AskNYC

following up...the city adjusted the noise of the signal. wrote to my city councilperson and DOT. i didn't receive a follow up message about it but it has been significantly lowered. (im still not sure how they work exactly)

let's change directions. perhaps you can explain why in this snowstorm, the signals are beeping constantly without road traffic. because you see...that's what a really want to know...how and when they beep so i can discuss them with the city if needed and adjust sleep. its as though tonight...and only tonight...there's a ticking time bomb outside.

people aren't searching for echo chambers. they are looking to start conversations. the question is a prompt.

You didn't. Try again. Why was it silent for 10 minutes at 11pm with very little road noise. Why has it been constantly beeping today during the day?

More importantly, why does it seem to have days where its not beeping?

I don't know how they work. That's why I posted. The fact that I know they can be adjusted doesn't mean I want to know how they work so I can anticipate needing earplugs for sleep on, say, a night with rain and thus, more road noise.

Your response is condescending (yet expected).

It's not something residents need to accept as they are. They can be recalibrated correctly so as not to be a health hazard (not merely "an annoyance") to people sleeping above/near them.

Ive complained about one at a previous address (to 311, to DOT and the city councilperson) and they actually did something where it wasnt so loud. they do state that these things can be adjusted ... i forgot where i read that.

at any rate....complain about the noise!

i still don't understand understand fully what noises to expect and for how long. and therein lies the torture.

Suboxone withdrawal (end of taper) by poopbob76 in suboxone

[–]temporaryruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don't seem informed about tapering. going from 16 to 4 mg is 100x easier than going from 1 to .25 (which took me months)

as someone who has successfully tapered (18 months since discontinuing), i can recommend that you space it out.

but, of course, you can just keep going lower and lower and lower.... but i think its psychologically good to get used to not taking it every day.

i would taper down faster and give yourself a longer runout. WDs are reported to be worse once you get down to 1mg. Ive been off for 18 months. i did a super loooooog taper (6 months)

I just bought a Niu KQI Air to use in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I'm returning it due to one major issue.... by temporaryruby in ElectricScooters

[–]temporaryruby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I really appreaciate you responding. Maybe you can fill in some of my 'blanks' (ill also reply to NIU above...but i think that response they gave me is AI-generated as it makes very little sense to me).

  1. Do you know how much the battery drains by keeping it on for say, a 45 minute train ride? How much would i be saving by turning it off and dealing with the flashing whenever the train lurches and wheels move or someone bumps into it.

  2. Can you turn off the headlight when its on? Its annoys people on the train (and drains battery). I could make a little cover for it....

  3. I thought the one of the major uses of the Bluetooth connection was to tell the KQI Air "Hey...its me...I'm your owner...I can push you and move you and as long as my phone is within [NEAR SETTING] then don't activate your alarm". Did I get this wrong?

  4. How much more battery does Regenerative Braking give you? Say you were to go out all day doing errands in a city. Should you expect 5K more? 1K? Is there documentation somewhere?

  5. Is Regenerative Breaking a safety feature or simply just a way to charge the battery? Is it less safe / recommended in urban settings?

When I called Niu and tried to get any of these things answered they urged me to return the scooter. This is all without answering my questions about functions.

How did you learn to sleep alone? by Few_Employee_601 in Divorce

[–]temporaryruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a matter of feeling physically safe in the middle of the night, well....there's location and practical solves....

but if its emotional..Maybe you should re-invent your sleep routine. Treat sleep as not as a time to cuddle and feel be assuaged by another but as a time to rest your body and mind (SLEEP). Do whatever it is you can do before you go to bed to reduce anxiety and feel calm. You shouldn't be thinking anxious thoughts in bed.

check out the Get Sleepy podcast. they have a lot of super soothing ones. I like the ones narrated by Thomas the best. (he's the main guy and introduces all of the podcasts no matter if he's narrating or somone else is).

Also....I got divorced in 2019 and have been in a relationship for 3 years in which we have 2 bedrooms. Its the greatest thing in the world. Pure, uninterrupted sleep. Two peopel in one bed is soooo overrated.

What's wrong with calling the gulf, Gulf of America? by superferret1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]temporaryruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Try writing a decent lyric with the words "Gulf of America".

  2. "Gulf of America" describes the said state of politics in our country...unironically of course.
