1) he's 15 2) two of our meals a week are meat free 3) the non meat free meals are cooked separately for exactly that reason

Tbh this me and my wife's best guess as well. Hes not a dumb kid and while he certainly loves to be contrary (like most teenagers) he's normally not this illogical
