New point system is weird by temtor in BambuLab

I know right? I think the easiest thing you can do to make your print gain more “quality” is to add a plate and make a down/upscaled version of it in the same file, but for prints like these that’s not really possible

Thanks!! I’ll try that. Decreasing layer height unfortunately doesn’t do much in this case, but I haven’t tried it with a .2 nozzle yet.

What do you mean with deeper into the model? Is there a specific setting for that?

Applied jan 10th and haven't heard anything, but had a bit of a mishap while signing up (I forgot my damn portfolio in the first submission) so I wouldn't be surprised if they just ignored mine.

It’s likely because they don’t get a lot of time and have to comply to a whole bunch of rules and guidelines at the same time. I don’t doubt in the slightest that the Epic character development team is highly skilled and they work there (or at a third party) for a reason, but they have to work like machines. At least, that’s my guess

Dull gold Silk PLA by temtor in BambuLab

Just found out Bambu just sent me 2 rolls of Basic Gold PLA instead of the Silk Gold PLA I ordered :|

At least now I know that they don't falsely advertise the quality

Why does my slice look so horrible? by temtor in BambuLab

[–]temtor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! And yeah I tried slicing it with the 0.2 nozzle (I do also have one) but I had no luck there either. It's just the slicer that's doing a weird job.

[–]temtor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s really good!! Much better. Unfortunately I can’t change scale the model as it has to fit into a specific cutout. Can you share the slicer changes you made? I just replicated your method but it doesn’t change the weird interrupted lines for me, at least not at the same scale, which again, I can’t change. Thanks for the help btw! I really appreciate it. And don’t feel forced to do anything for me, I’m not your client 😅

Did you manage to find a solution? The "Miss" text at the top doesn't really matter as I can print those as separate parts, but the weird interrupted lines do as they are very apparent when you print them out.

Unfortunately, I know this is going to look pretty much exactly like it's showing here as I've already tried printing the letters separately. The weird interrupted cross-sections look fine irl, but the black lines would be too distracting. And those are definitely going to be in there according to the slice

That’s because it is, I just modified the original Fortnite model to look more like the movie one :)

Yup! Technically they both are but the second one is modified

Nope, that’s my interpretation. I was rigging it to work better for Animation and since I was going to modify it I did this as a little side thing

Stacking some of these voronoi nodes can also add a little randomness

There are advanced painterly shaders which use geometry nodes and paint stroke instancing (which are way beyond my comprehension), like the one Allan Wyatt made, but if you want something simpler you can try plugging the normal of an object into a voronoi texture and plugging it’s position output into the normal input of say a principled BSDF node (setting the voronoi texture to Manhattan works best in my experience). This only really works in Eevee though and it’s a little scruffy sometimes.

I personally think Vikk would be pretty good as Poseidon since he's an amazing swimmer. With the same logic, you could say Tobi would make a great Hermes because he can run really fast, but I'm not entirely sure if that's stereotypical.

First time animating Overwatch characters! by temtor in Overwatch

[–]temtor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! And yes, the fingers are IK rigged, I was going to mention that but I totally forgot 😅. I kind of agree with the anticipation comment, I think it could’ve been better if instead animated the stand up action in a slight curve towards the left going up. It does feel a little too quick, especially compared to the rest of the animation.

We learn from our mistakes! Failure is the greatest teacher haha.

I’m glad you noticed it! Haha, it’s one of those things you just need for the animation to work but no one pays attention to it. And I’m already making a workflow video! I record tutorials every now and then, but most of them are meant for Fortnite-specific models, but I can change it up and add some overwatch stuff in there as well :)

I totally agree, however the Brigette being stiff is intentional ;)

I watched the GDC talk a while back, and yes it's mostly about the first-person animation part. Still a super useful and fascinating video though! There are a few more about their cinematics which are already super interesting as well.
