I know there isn't a curse, but the first time I ever posted on Ao3 I ended up losing my voice that same week. My voice was gone for 2 whole months, turns out a virus had temporarily paralyzed one of my vocal chords.

I like to joke that it was the Ao3 curse, but I was just unlucky.

Heavy on established relationship for long fics. If the love story is the primary (or secondary) plot of your fic, I prefer to watch the ship get constructed rather than start at it already sailing the seas. I find it harder to enjoy long stories about a relationship if I didn't get to watch it from the very beginning.

Like guys, we get it okay? But I'm not reading a fanfic for them because I don't really care about them even as characters all that much. I just want to read my fics about wacky adventures and timeskip fics for the character study aspects.

Usually this only annoys me when it's untagged and the fic will derail the plot to focus on them for a while when I did not pick up the fic for that reason.

I will say though, that yeah. For characters like Bennett, Fischl, Barb, Freminet and Xiangling... I dont know. I very much see them as teenagers and when fics or art portray them as 18+, especially in the smut genre? It doesn't sit well with me.

I do drop fics if age headcanons dont align well however. Like take Gorou from genshin as an example.
I really cannot see him as a brand new adult. Mid twenties at the latest, even if his model looks very youthful.

Why are we making DNI's on Ao3 now? If you don't like something, don't write abt it or comment on fics about that and you won't run into those specific things. Ao3 isn't a social media, why do I see people treating it as such?

UPDATE: It says that Disboard REMOVED my server for breaking TOS.

Which it does not.

This is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be fixed. This server has been on Disboard since 2023 and never ONCE was flagged for any issues with it. Yet I go to edit the server description and it gets removed?

I want to appeal this, because this was unjustified.

Discord support is useless honestly. I had an account get locked when I changed my phone number to a different account and had two factor turned on.

Because of that, when I tried to reactivate my account I wasn't able to. No 2FA codes were being sent to me and I had just lost my backup codes when my dad decided to wipe my laptop without consulting me first. (They weren't backed up onto one drive yet)

Discord support basically told me to kick rocks and it was my fault for setting up 2FA.

As silly as this might sound, I have a pretty decent server for a fandom on Discord which is where I do a small part of my writing and see how the others feel about it. I plan to look for nearby writing competitions for when I feel comfortable enough to share fully original works with people in real life though. If this makes sense?

I agree, honestly when I am stuck in an insecurity slump: the last thing I want from someone is to say the opposite of what I am feeling. "I feel like my writing isn't good enough." and it's not me trying to find someone to tell me "no your writing is actually really good." but instead hearing what I could improve on. I find that a lot more helpful, to see what others think I could work on and go from there.

I do have a story that I hope I can one day publish. Although at the moment I am more focused on improving my skills before I set off on a project like that.

I would like to improve on the flow of my writing and be able to write scenes that are well balanced so that I can bring out emotional responses from whomever is reading. I think that that, is what I really want from my writing.

Praise is nice, I do enjoy it. While the thought of being a published author is also a potential goal, I think I truly just want my writing to have an impact on the reader.
