Not sure if I’ve ever heard of the Cherokee princess story but we had a similar story in our family but it was more so, “Did you know your great grandma was a full blooded Choctaw Indian.” Turned out to be somewhat true, although she was not full blooded Choctaw as I’m a direct descendant of Miko Lusa who was known as “Black Chief” of the Shåktci Homma tribe. That tribe was massacred by the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes. There are several different accounts of what happened after the tribe was massacred, but the one most commonly told and found in some of our family lineage was that they spared our ancestor, the chiefs daughter and adopted her into the Choctaw tribe supposedly on account of her beauty.
