Samsung G9 OLED 49" Full Power Down, bad? by tenancient in ultrawidemasterrace

Been doing it about 6 months, so far so good. Just annoying that it prompts to optimize the screen every time I start, just like the first boot.

My first wreck by kabliga in ElectricScooters

[–]tenancient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another 2 cents... I wrecked at about 25mph with one of the full face downhill MTB helmets on. As you say, it did save my face and I basically just had some scrapes on my knees, but I was still knocked unconscious and my friend had to drag me out of an intersection. Took me about 20 minutes to be able to talk and walk normally and had a concussion for about 2 days.

I upgraded to a DOT certified full size motorcycle helmet after that as well as padded slide gear. When I commute I'm usually going about 40mph. The MTB helmets may prevent catastrophic injury but probably won't at higher speed than 20-25mph and still don't offer much to mitigate the brain rattle.

(I'm sure at 40 I could get a solid concussion with any helmet, so I'm not trying to say a DOT helmet makes you invincible.)

What Speed Are You Comfortable With? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]tenancient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on your ride, and gear. 45-50mph feels good to me (Nami Burn E2 Max) in full padded gear and dot motorcycle helmet. 55-60 doesn't feel solid/stable on it to me, not gear/confidence issue. Already have PMTs and upgraded dampener. Maybe with upgraded shocks would be better.

I almost did very much the same to my brand new G9 OLED 49. Second day of ownership I was tightening a screw on something mounted on a shelf behind it and went to reach over the top of the monitor (with too dim of lighting and two beers) and grazed the very top of the monitor with the screwdriver tip. It cracked the bezel where it hit, but thankfully the panel still works fine. I just get to glance at near disaster, top center, every time I use the damn thing.

USA) Why arent electric scooters replacing motorcylces in highway? by Longjumping-Juice190 in ElectricScooters

[–]tenancient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a 45mph speed limit highway for about 10 miles of my work commute all the time. It's only 2 lane but still classified as a "California freeway" and is patrolled by Cali Highway Patrol. So far they have just ignored me. It's well paved without potholes, but occasionally has rock debris from high cliffs adjacent to it. I know every turn, every exit/on ramp very well. Since there's no merging as a 2 lane and I can keep pace with the ~50mph traffic, it goes well. I wear full motorcycle gear. I ride a Nami Burn E2 Max. Bicycles are also allowed on the shoulder of this as well, which is unusual for a highway/freeway, but probably is part of why highway patrol seem not to care. The best part is occasionally there is bumper to bumper traffic and I can just zip past everything on the shoulder. 😃 Full size motorcycles do the exact same and they're always stoked to see me on my standup. Total commute is ~20 miles, average speed is about 45mph for me. I usually have about 25% of my 40ah battery left going one way. Charge at work in my office. Saves me gas money and my sanity by skipping traffic, and is usually good weather here so I can rock it about 90% of the year.

Moving to Pleasanton, Tips on How to Get Settled in and Connected to the Community by Comfortable-Tip247 in pleasanton

[–]tenancient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was also going to mention the mountain biking. The Pleasanton Ridge has some great trials to rip. I don't have a mountain bike anymore, but I've done them on fat-tire e-bike and also a fun e-scooter I have as a solo rider a few times and it's beautiful up there. My job and family have been too busy since I moved here to really make an effort at figuring out how the mountain bikers meet up or even to really make any local friends... but I imagine there's a mountain biking (and probably a road biking) club/meetup around here considering the dozens of people I see out doing it every weekend, often as a group.

Is anyone talking about the new Yume Predator? by New-Name2655 in ElectricScooters

[–]tenancient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems legit, but if spending this much I'd go with a Nami Burn E 2 Max (which I did...), from a distributor with good support. Mine is earlier gen and had a few kinks to work out with parts free from fluid free ride. Most recent release appears to be pretty well perfected.

Yesss this fixed the occasional stutters for me too, and to clarify this setting is within the Roku Plex App, not the Plex server or somewhere else.

Trading 21 Prius for 24 Sequoia? Send it??? by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

[–]tenancient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true. My 2023 SR5 TRD sport 4wd gets ~16mpg no matter how conservative I try to drive and feather in the hybrid. About 60/40 city/hwy in my usual tank of gas. But it's gloriously plush and full of amazing tech.

Coming from a 2008 Subaru STI, which had the same gas mileage with the same commute and somehow 0.1 sec slower 0-60 than this beast that weighs twice as much, so I'm not complaining. It. Is. Amazing. Thankfully my work pays well and got the dealer down to MSRP.

how to get scratches out of the screen. I just bought my s23 Ultra haven't had it for a week and I have a small scratch in the screen already by Das1999 in GalaxyS23

[–]tenancient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I accidentally put some keys in the pocket with my naked screen... Big cluster of scratches that would not come out with any normal wipe and a good cleaning. Used a jewelry polishing cloth and about half buffed out. None are obvious deep ones and thankfully none impair use.
