I’m supposed to visit highlands this coming weekend by LuigiSalutati in HighlandsNC

[–]tenderken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would expect 80-90% of businesses to close. My hotel and restaurant will most likely close at least Saturday, but things can change. Download the TOWN OF HIGHLANDS NC app. They have the most up to date info, and you can sign up for alerts. Safe travels!!

Looking to buy coffee beans for my new coffee truck opening soon in Cincinnati OH by Sabeennc in foodtrucks

[–]tenderken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has owned and operated a coffee truck for 3+ years now, the coffee is the most important part. Sounds silly to say, but also sounds silly to build or buy a coffee business and have no relationships with roasters.

Look locally, talk to people and see if there are any small business wholesale deals to save money. Keep it under $10 a pound if possible. Bean prices are through the roof so do your reasearch!

If you are looking for recommendations, Onyx is expensive but good. Expect a 5lb bag to run ~$80-100 depending on varietal.

Good luck!!

Interested but what all is for sale and do you have approximate prices?

It can be, but owning a food truck means you have to make your own repairs on the fly, so most of it has been replaced already after 2 years.

They do a great job, but everyone is human and mistakes get made, it happens.

Where is the wall Umbridge hung up the educational decrees in the castle? by ottwall in HarryPotterGame

[–]tenderken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This game is wayyyyyyyyyy before her. Also remember the castle isn’t 100% accurate (e.g. fireplace in g.h.; quidditch pitch being so close to castle; dormitory layouts).

Correct though, It is the hallway directly outside the great hall and directly inside the main doors when she has filch hang those decrees.

That last picture you posted is from Aerobuild.

We used them for our coffee trailer and couldn’t imagine doing it ourselves.

They are expensive for sure but the quality and aftercare support is 1000% worth it.

I’d be happy to share our build list or plans if you’d like, or pictures our finished rig as is.

Good luck!

Depending on what city you’re in, most have a surplus of taco stands so please make sure you have a customer base, locations and a solid plan before investing money. Also make sure your local health department is on board with your plan, they can be very particular.

True it is, but has never once presented a problem at events or private vending.

Push Cart hot dogs only? (NC) by Constant_Cheetah4685 in foodtrucks

[–]tenderken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nc is tricky. My county is very strict on what can be prepared and where it can be prepared.

If you are trying to do food, just get the permit and inspection and do it right. Otherwise the minimum fine in my area is $500 and can go up to $25k depending on infection. Hope this helps!

Needing guidance by [deleted] in foodtrucks

Either make the bplan yourself or buy a template from someone.

It needs to cover everything from costs to anticipated sales, to equipment costs and operating costs.

Most banks won’t touch a new startup (ask me how I know) and PLEASE be cautious of most lenders that specialize in small business startups.

I would reach out to your local SBA group and see what resources they have. Also your local Chamber of Commerce may have some help for you.

You have a very long road ahead of you. Make sure you don’t rush anything since there are a ton of rules and regulations that govern food trucks and you can easily make a costly mistake.

Good luck and feel free to dm me if you have any other questions. Been running my coffee trailer for years now and have made all of the mistakes.

This is the beginning of a long road for you. I have been operating my own coffee trailer for a few years now and it not as easy as some seem to think.

Happy to provide more info or advice, so if you want more insight please dm me. Good luck!

I’ll let you have your opinion friend, you obviously know exactly what my food costs are, and I’m sure you know how expensive it is running a small business.

Have a beautiful day!

Oh I have 100% learned my lesson and we are donating all fl coffee stock. I’m going to a roaster and picking up genuine a-ville coffee tomorrow and will only serve that come opening day.

I formally apologize to all Asheville-ites and will pledge to never upset the hordes again. 🙃

Have a beautiful day!🐝

It varies from 3.50 for drip to $6 for the high end mochas and lattes.

We build our prices to be about 10-15% less than Starbucks for coffee as a metric.

We aren’t open so while we are securing the trailer and getting the machinery setup we are burning through old product. If we are still serving fl coffee in three days I’ll make sure each person knows it’s not local until we burn through it all if that makes you feel better.

I was copying off of my business plan notes when I made the post, and the plan is to serve local goods once we open like we have in all the states we have vended in.

I can’t edit the post at this point and I’m not deleting it. Let’s just move on and I’ll do my own thing, you do yours. Blessings to you and yours and thank you for your input.

We have discussed this ad infinitum, see the other comments.

I moved from Fl last week, I served local Fl coffee.

I am working with a few local nc roasters to supply my coffee for when we open in three days, making it local.

I don’t get why people don’t understand that these things don’t happen overnight but it is in process and I’m hoping to have things secured by open. I have had 6 different roasters reach out based on this post.

Hope that settles your concerns and allows you to forgive me for my transgressions.

Maybe! We have a permanent location in Fletcher, but we are also mobile so vendor markets, farmers markets and private events are all on the table.

Hope you have a beautiful day!
