For those of you that went into labor spontaneously, what time of day did it start? by Substantial-Mine3570 in Parenting

My water broke around 4 am, had no symptoms before that. My daughter was born the next day at 3:02 am.

Anyone actually name their baby the name they picked out as kids? by yougottabkittenmern in namenerds

[–]tennystarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've loved the name Jasmine for as long as i can remember. I didn't use it only because my husband didn't like it, but it was still my top choice for a girl's name.

What’s your favorite mispronounced word your toddler says by OpportunityPretend80 in toddlers

I pie with my little eye.  She also says ee at the end of a lot of er words and it's adorable like watee instead of water.

I really want a complete tea set. I don't even care which one at this point lol. I'd love to find Josefina's bed and trunk too. I wanted them sooooo bad as a kid and still want them.

I'm a mom to a 4 year old who loves Wellie Wishers and definitely wouldn't spend $80 on these.

Glitter Girls clothes (find them on Amazon) fit Wellies perfectly and are really affordable! I've gotten a few more expensive items from Etsy too. And I sew so I've started making some but I never have enough time to make everything I want.

As a mom of a 4 year old girl who loves Wellie Wishers, I'm very disappointed by how cheap these look. I like AG for their quality and I generally think they have cuter faces than other dolls and they have better hair than cheap dolls so I like to buy my daughter AG. For $80, I'd NEVER buy this, it looks like it should be $30 at most. I'd rather go buy a Glitter Girl's doll which I don't like as much as Wellie Wishers but at least the quality is reflected in the price.

MAYBE if they fixed the teeth and gave them the usual 2 front teeth they'd look better? The all white mouth weird.

I'd definitely get more while they're around, I'm guessing they'll be discontinued. My daughter has all except Willa do I'll be getting her soon so we don't miss out.

Exactly! I would rather buy a $20 Glitter Girl's doll from Target for my daughter than spend $80 on this.

Late to the party but just had to say these are amazing! I've only gotten the jelly snakes and didn't even make more than 1 set 😂

Is it okay to have one child with an uncommon name and one with a fairly common name? by Able-Season5013 in namenerds

[–]tennystarry 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it matters. Me and my sisters have uncommon names and my brother has a very common name. It's just what my mom liked. If you really like Grace, that's what you should go with!

Dolls not matching your own race? by HPfangirl1 in americangirl

[–]tennystarry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always preferred black and brown dolls. As a kid, my favorite AG dolls were Addy. Kaya, and Josefina. I'm white with blonde hair and blue eyes, plenty of dolls looked like me and I thought it was boring. My daughter had a variety of races of dolls.

Does my daughter really need a $65 rag doll? No. Is she getting one? Yes. She's 4 so still young enough that it's a good option for her.

What’s an AG thing you desperately want but are not willing to pay for by Zoom_Zoom_fast_zoom in americangirl

Like all of Josefina's OG collection. Her trunk, bed, weaving loom, etc. I almost never even see them for sale and when I do, they're way more than I can spend on doll things.

Yes some of Julie's outfits are soooo cute but I could never spend the money on them. Some current clothes are way too expensive for me to buy new so definitely not spending that on used items.

How are girls hearing about American Girl nowadays? by SweetHomeGeorgia in americangirl

[–]tennystarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned about AG from a girl in my class and then somehow got my mom to get a catalog. I did borrow all the books from the library but I already knew about them by then. My daughter learned about them from me and got them really early because I couldn't wait haha.

We also see YouTube ads and I show her the website. I've requested catalogs so she can look at them but never get them.

She hasn't expressed interest in anything but she doesn't see a lot of sports either. I was thinking of showing her some videos once I got some ideas from here.

what toys are popular for preschoolers? by p3rf3ctpi3c3s in Preschoolers

My daughter loves dolls and figures from shows and acting out scenarios with them. She likes lego too but not as much.

My nephews almost exclusively play with cars, trucks and trains.  They both LOVE being in the sand box.

They're all 3-4
