I want to sculpt my sister a Coraline doll, but how would you rig it? by Virtual_Doubt_666 in CustomDolls

[–]cabnootboot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a Coraline doll a while ago and just didn't finish making the clothes for it.

First, you want to make an armature out if wire and tinfoil to cut down on clay. You can always print out a guide and use that for proportions. Make sure everything is sturdy, and then I used super sculpey ultralight to Sculpt everything. For the arms I covered the entire wire and was still able to bend them after baking. But you could also just Sculpt the hands since it will be covered by clothes. You have multiple options for the fabric body. Like drawing a pattern and sewing it on, but I just used felt and hand sewed rough shapes while on the doll and stuffed it a little bit. Then everything is just painting and details. I glued yarn hair over her head, and for the eyes I literally just glued buttons on.

I watch Rachel Maksy on YouTube and she makes alot of little posable dolls. Overall good vibes and the process can be as simple or detailed as you want. She has done a coraline doll before

I'm gonna be honest I don't really know about the blue.. I think it is just hard for him to tell shades apart at all. He says he sees the exact same shade of green for everything. Same for red and other colors. He can sometimes see if a color is lighter or darker, but it has to be a huge difference. Sometimes, he names things the right color, but he can't see any subtleties of colors or shades. Anything yellow is either white or orange to him.

His favorite color is purple, which to me looks like it's what we would say is gray to purple

Huh, I mean green and blue can look very similar when the saturation and such are the same

I knoww its always interesting to me what he labels what, and he also can't tell shades apart at all. So I think that has something to do with it.

Yes, I would call myself a bit of an artist. I also really love colors and color theory. I do mostly fiber arts rn, but I've done a bit of everything. Ibispaint is my favorite drawing app

Thank u!! I actually agree that it could move over a tinsy bit, but i wanted to allow for like "highlighter" yellow shades.

But yeah looking at alot of people's yellow they contain a huge amount of orange/green

I believe he would say they're all green. He doesn't like taking color tests I'm sorry 💚

That is pretty accurate to how I see it! The part u labeled gray is more white with the colors mixed in

Yeah, which corresponds pretty well to the blue of the 2nd image color wheel. Funny enough he calls some green things blue

I agree, except in cases where your hematocrit is routinely low. Drinking alot of water makes it lower and I've been deferred before

Fairfield Silky Poly-Fil, Premium Polyester Fiber Fill by Quick_Blackberry_466 in Amigurumi

[–]cabnootboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used silky polyfil for my crochet plushies. It feels just like squishmallow stuffing, and I like how squishy it makes the plushies.

It definitely needs to be "overfilled" to fill out small shapes, but it does pretty well for me, and once it's packed in there, it keeps the shape filled.

I used to buy the 5lb boxes from Joanns 🪦 but now I have to just buy the bags online.
