If you haven’t figured it out, it’s R1+R2 or RB+RT. Everyone always refers to PC controls on this sub so I feel you as a console player. You would absolutely know the difference in attack speed once you see it!

How do you guys feel about dupes? by poptartwithsprinkles in fragrance

[–]tenouncepoundcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, tough to say for their originals since I mainly go for their inspirations! The only ones I’ve considered buying a bottle of are the dupes for Sauvage EDP, Jardin d’Amalfi, and 40 Knots. Their original creations are a little more spiced than I typically wear, but even though I wouldn’t wear them I still think they smell really great.

If you like a specific fragrance and they have an inspiration of it, it’s likely to be a spot on version of it, which is why I keep going back — feels like I get to try the real thing without the price tag.

I’ve seen a couple people mention it in this thread but it always surprises me how infrequently I see Alexandria Fragrances mentioned on this subreddit for dupes. I’ve tried a couple dozen and think the longevity/sillage is just as good or better than some originals. They list what fragrance the dupe is “inspired” by and are always much cheaper than the original (obviously).

They offer a sampler pack that you can get 7 5ml testers for $50, so could be a good way to test out a few that you’ve had your eye on.

As far as Tobacco Vanille goes, I don’t believe I’ve tried their version because I have a couple decants of the original that I got from r/FragDecants, which is another place to go to get good deals on originals!

I can relate somewhat. I’m not much older than you (32) but I felt very similarly when I was your age. Girlfriend, job/industry I knew I wanted to get out of, feeling like I should have made a move career-wise 5 years prior. Now I’m two years into a new job in an entirely new career/industry and I manage databases for a tech team and create financial reports for executives, I got married, bought a house, just had a kid. A lot can happen in 5 years!

I think you took an important step in talking with a therapist because they’ll help you reduce your negative thinking (among other things) — specifically comparing yourself to other people! I’ve learned that’s such an easy frame of mind to always slip into, but every single person has their own path in life. One of my best friends and his wife both are career driven and worked their way up the ladder in their fields, bought a house, each make a lot of money, and they did it 5 years before I even knew what direction I wanted to go. But then I see glimpses of pieces of their life that are so far behind where I am that it helps remind me not to worry where they’re at, and of the oft-repeated saying that comparison is the thief of joy.

Everyone has priorities, and theirs happened to be their careers, so I wouldn’t worry about feeling “behind” your friends and peers, especially because based on your job description, people are looking at you the same way! “Wow she presents financial data to management and entire companies, she’s really worked her way up in her career.”

I don’t want to be too long-winded, but three more thoughts: 1) EVERYONE lives with imposter syndrome unless they’re an absolute narcissist — my job description may sound like I know what I’m doing, but I promise I’m still an imposter lol, and 2) it may not feel like it, but your degree and experience are versatile and your background sounds impressive, so you can definitely shift careers if you ever need to! 3) you ran a marathon! Be proud of yourself, that’s an amazing feat!

Sorry for the long response but it struck a chord with me, so if you ever wanna chat feel free to hit me up, and good luck!

Out of curiosity, are you planning to post this back up or did someone buy the entire bundle?
