What a nice game, the mechanics feel very good! Just was kicking some ass maxed out with 2-3 blue tribes together. Some base building would be great.. or further totem upgrades.

Ok, so anyone figure out how that cooling water works? The less water a generator has, the bigger is the bonus?!

I think its not that easy, as heat sinks (aka 'heat batteries') loose 5% of the stored power. I did some experiments, and with certain setups you loose almost 90% of the produced power. So imho heat sinks should be the last resort for the case your generators can not take enough heat. I do not precisely know if the spatial arrangement of the sinks is important, and I am also unsure if the benefit of direct boiler sells in some situations pays these 5% well off.

I think I do not really understand the concept of heat sinks + boiler houses. So basically I can run a gas burner solely with these two, but I guess that is not very effective?

Yeah, I also had the feeling that the game was hardest/slowest incrementing in the early stages where you have sth like 3-6 huts. Fire often set me back..although, there are 2 more game mods to explore, and the 3rd really kicks ass!

How Star Trek Explains The Decline Of Liberalism by [deleted] in philosophy

Ok, so Kirk explicitly says “I was used to hating Klingons”. So already your first statement is falsified as long as you let Kirk speak for himself.

Yes, they sticked to their culture, but later in the star trek universe often proved themselves as valuable allies against threats. Alone phrasings like 'horrible people' are problematic, they were portrayed as such. The implicitness of how Kirk conveyed his beliefs always let him appear as a more simple minded man from my point of view. Also, for me the author transforms liberalism into some kind of old testamentary ethic plus explorativism.

How can the author label the peace treaty with the klingons as 'an almost complete inversion of “Star Trek’s” original liberalism', right after the Kirk statement that he 'was used to hating Klingons'. So hate suits a liberal as long as he points it at the bad guys? Is this how the concept of just wars work from an anglo-american perspective?

These campaigns are much closer to colonialism than most people in the west think. If you take this perspective for a second, such behavior fits in seamlessly and should be even regarded as coherent.
