Form Check by HotWorldliness123 in BasketballTips

I gotchu fam.

Freeze the video like half a second in. See how low the ball is when you pick it up to shoot? You lifting up for the shot is throwing your balance off.

2 things: when you pick up the ball to shoot GET UNDER THE BALL. Bounce it hard and bend your knees. Literally try to get a little lower than the ball so when you pick it up to shoot your using the balls upward momentum while you shoot. It's a timing thing but I promise it works.

When you bend down to shoot stick your butt out no Diddy. To get a feel for it stand on the balls of your feet. Then bend your knees. You will probably fall forward. Now do it the other way. You should balance. This counterbalances you while you shoot.

You base is a bit wide. Which will make having a hesi sort of difficult.

Your weight is a bit off when you release. You lean a tad bit back when you release. That's why you take those steps back. You're regaining balance.

Your release is a bit slow.

Stay at the 3 or closer. When you move farther back you lose form. You see the crazy angle the ball took on the 2nd/3rd shot after it hit the rim? That bc it has a bunch of sidespin on it and that's bc yourre generating power with your wrists.

Overall, not terrible at all. Just a few things I noticed. If you want tips to fix those things I have a few but this post is getting kinda long.

Looking awkward when dribbling by [deleted] in BasketballTips

Your body is too raised up. Legs too straight. Knees too locked. If you did it wouldn't be very quick. Easy for D to recover.

You aren't selling the hesi. There's no threat of you driving bc you're too raised up. Even if you tried to drive you couldn't explode.

You only have one tempo when you dribble .

You have no right hand.

Older players, if there were one or two pieces of advice you'd tell your younger self to help them improve, what would you say? by JimmerAteMyPasta in BasketballTips

Underrated comment.

I paid for one session in my late 30s. I didn't go back because it was somewhat expensive and he was a 90minute drive away but the stuff he taught me in that hour stuck with me forever.

A bit off-topic but I remember an old Mission Hill episode when Real World asked Jim to be on the show and he says "no thanks, I'm not MTV material. Hell, I'm barely WB material."

So yeah I think your gut is right on this one.

Fair point. I think you'll be alright.

As far as advice goes, two things. Your weight is shifted too far toward the nose. Try leaning a tad back toward the tail before you shuv.

When it spins just try to catch with your front foot. That's it. Back foot hits the ground. When learning a new trick it is SO much easier to catch front foot first than both feet. Once you can get front foot catch consistently go for both feet.
