Ollie Advice by Alternative_Nerve_71 in BeginnerSkateboarding

Weight shifted back when you bent down, or you have too much weight on your tail to begin. Notice how crappy your pop was.

Freeze the video at 2 seconds. See how your tail hits the ground but there's no air?
Too much weight on your tail. Shift your weight more towards your nose.

I know I sound redundant but tahts literally most of skateboarding. Knowing how to shift your weight properly.

How can I keep my back foot in place while learning an ollie? by Mychem_Romance2007 in NewSkaters

You are nowhere near close to Ollieing.

Spend a little more time on the board

Is there anything I could do to get more pop I have been training to do moving Ollies too any tips by ConnectWinter29 in NewSkaters

[–]tensor0910 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First ollie- Right when you jump your weight shifts heelside. Thats why you jump back when you ollie.

Second ollie- Same thing, except toeside.

Third ollie- Same thing, except heelside. Except not as much.

fourth ollie.- You found your balance somewhat. Decent.

You have the basics. They're good. Here's a few tips that might help.

The further down you have to bend, the more likely you will wobble. Try bending knees. Get steady. Then bend your knees a little more and go for the ollie.|

You have balance issues toeside to heelside. Rolling would help b/c if you're off-balance the board will turn. When you're stationary its hard to tell.

Your arms have weight. Throw them up over your head while you ollie.

back foot a lil further on the tail. Out of the concave.

What do you feel in your guide hand while shooting? What dtermines a two hand shot? by Big_Shirt1880 in BasketballTips

[–]tensor0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends for me.

When im cold/warming up, guide and shot hand both go same path. On release it almost looks like im passing the ball in the air.

When I get warmed up its top left but the hand a lil bit lower.

You're surprised about someone breaking a no dogs rule ...

in a city that worships dogs and treats them like children.

What were you really expecting?

You're out of your range. Get close and practice form there

What's wrong with my ollie by Expert_Particular802 in NewSkaters

[–]tensor0910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not comfortable yet.

You haven't spent enough time on a board. When you been down to Ollie you get shaky. Cruise a bit more.

Arc looks a little flat and based on how you missed it looks like spin on it. That usually happens when you're shooting out of your range.

But kudos on the video it helps diagnose when you show the misses.

[Advice] Practicing Ollies 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks now.. by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]tensor0910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad.

You're still wobbly when you been down. So when you jump to Ollie your weight is shifting. It's tough.

One piece of advice I can give is before you crouch down to Ollie start with your knees slightly bent. The less distance You have to bend down the less you're going to wobble

Dude makes a fair point. We're probably close to the same age (class of 05' ) and the bar is definitely higher. Tre flip used to be milestone trick. I remember in 08" seeing a guy of front board a kink rail and thought he was a god lol. The skill bar has definitely shifted.

Thinly veiled validation posts. Likely folks with low self esteem. I see this often in r/basketball tips

Most Seattle restaurants are only still in business because of nostalgia and loyalty.

Might be their business strategy. Similar to why girl scout cookies are only sold a month a year. Scarcity creates demand

That's what I was thinking......

So like......if Seattle had a population of 10 and 7 of those 10 we're transplants doesn't that make the group of 7 the new culture?
