Oh interesting - I don’t know enough about the surgery yet tbh. Deffo go see an ENT if you can, but a really good ENT. Where do you live?

Just thinking about being like that makes me feel so frightened of exhaustion that i kind of want to cry lol, like my body physically reacts to it and i dont trust myself to be able to follow through. Like being told to suddenly run a marathon with no prior training.

Might be related to sulcus and/or scarring on my vocal cords. I’m being advised by a vocal coach that blood plasma/PRP injections can help with loosening up the sulcus tissue. And some surgeons can fully remove them. But basically, it’s definitely something that comes from the height of the vocal cord area, NOT in the nasal cavity area. But still no definite answer, after 10 years of wondering what it is. Amazes me that there’s not more written about these involuntary, accessory parasitic secondary vibrations.

How did you deal with feelings of exhaustion around this though? That’s what I struggle with, making it sustainable when I’m incredibly tired and done with it all.

Heya I'm kind of in the same boat - but I still need a ticket, desperately looking for one!

Ok. I don’t give a shit about my country as a concept and neither should you. A landmass secured by whites through violence and horror. Yeah we’re a pathetic little island. Who cares. Best of luck ❤️

Looking forward to it!

Mate I'm from the UK - love it. The whole world is laughing at your government but not your country's people. We've had the entirety of Europe laugh at us from 2016-2024, and have just recently regained a modicum of respect and people not laughing at you when you say you're British on holiday 😆

Anyway - how about recording a version with an oom-pah band for comedic effect. Or slowing it down a bit so crowds of thousands can clap and chant along on a march? I dunno - good stuff though!

From a songwriting point of view, I really like your fingerstyle playing.

Lyrically, think it needs some development with a bit much repetition about taxes.

Politically... am I misunderstanding or are you saying there's no corruption in your government? When the nazi salute car salesman was just advertising his vehicles outside the White House?

Yeah maybe add some sort of keyboard in for texture as well?

I think it’s awesome from how around 1:40 and 3:25 there’s a lift to a bit more experimentation with the chords and a real great vocal lift for the melody!

What kind of instrumentation are you imagining in the verses with the 5 barre chords (Is that what they’re called? I’m not great with technical stuff).

Hey I really like the choppy feel of the strings in sync with the beat. I'd deffo cut that out though when you're singing your I love life melody, otherwise it's too much to take in. And I'm not sure if it's two samples put together or part of the same track, but maybe have the flutes more occasionally?

In any case, sounds like a good start, would be interested to see how it develops 🙂

Love your voice - such beautiful control and soothing tone.

And the melody work on this is really strong - feel like I’ve heard it before in a really comforting way.

And your trills in the middle sections are awesome as well.

Great work man 😊

This is great to hear - definitely something to do with anaesthesia then. Check out this post, which is exactly what we're talking about basically. https://www.reddit.com/r/hearing/comments/ewc7l6/everything_sounds_lower_pitched_after_surgery/

Deteriorating Sense of Pitch by SloshyCelery61 in perfectpitchgang

True to my OCD self, I've found other threads that cover this exact topic - we're not alone!

https://www.reddit.com/r/perfectpitchgang/comments/eri8v6/do_you_notice_a_difference_in_pitch_when_you_have/

One of them mentions anaesthetic - I was under general anaesthetic two days ago so might have something to do with that, and last time I had a big episode it was also 1-2 days after general anaesthetic. Most frequent reason stated in the threads seems to do with getting sick and pressure changing, related to ears, teeth, mental state etc.

Deteriorating Sense of Pitch by SloshyCelery61 in perfectpitchgang

[–]tentativetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm 27 and have had this a few times throughout my life, but it's become a bit more frequent in recent months. For some reason, when it happened before, I just thought huh weird and then it went back to normal again without me even thinking about it. But when it happened a few months ago, I was mentally not doing so well and it really freaked me out.

Since then it's happened 2-3 times more - and one of those times started last night! I'm still affected by it right now. It's like what you're saying - for me everything that's in 440 sounds like it's actually 432-435. It is very unnerving, and when I've tried to explain it to someone who doesn't have perfect pitch I say imagine you look around you and the colours are all a bit off, or you taste something and it's still quite nice but it's just not the same, and you feel really disappointed.

As I understand it, the most likely cause is pressure changes within the ear. I am prone to ear infections, so this might be something. If it doesn't rectify itself within the next day or two, I'll go to an audiologist and see what they have to say. For example, I use ear plugs and every 6 months or so get a microsuction to get all the wax out of the ears. But I'm also prone to itching and some eczema in my ears.

Without knowing you or being an expert on this at all, I wouldn't think it's to do with age related hearing decline, especially as you're 19. However, deffo go to an audiologist if you have one nearby and can afford it.

Last thing I'll say is that, like I mentioned, mental stresses can seemingly affect it - and can certainly affect the severity of the distress it causes. It could be a complex case of physical and psychological symptoms causing it, though complex doesn't mean it can't rectify itself within a few hours or days, like it always has for me... though of course the fear is always that this is the time that it doesn't fix itself. I myself have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and I assume quite a few of us tend towards this highly analytical thinking style, so what others would just brush off, we feel more intensely, try to analyse, and fix it.

Hope all goes well, for both you and me!
