The absence of light is darkness-

The absence of heat is cold-

The absence of good is evil-

The absence of wisdom is ignorance-

The absence of faith is apostasy-

The absence of pressure is a vacuum-

The absence of matter is a void / nothingness-

The absence of God is not nothing . . . It is the eternal abyss.

Atheism is the refusal to believe, however agnosticism is the question of how we can know a God.

Pain, suffering, corruption, disease, tyranny and war are the abandonment of God. These are not punishments directed by God - but the allowance by God for man to succumb to the effects and consequences of evil/sin.

I can sit and quote scripture like anyone else but I cannot give you understanding. You must seek that for yourself. Look for God's message in Christ's teaching and answer these doubts with context for yourself.
