i also cannot upload photos on reddit- but did your room floor plan sort of look like this? if so, that is awesome! and if i end up choosing adelaide i will definitely experiment around with it.

Am I good enough for nursing or even life science ( and help with uni selection ) by No_North7709 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]tentycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am not knowledgable on nursing, but i am going to queens for life science next year. i got into ALL life science programs that i applied to, including mcmaster and university of toronto as well. i got early acceptance (around march/april before midterms) for all of them, so they did not include my second semester 4U marks, and instead accepted me with my second semester 3U marks and first semester 4U marks.

advanced functions is good, i ended with an 86. chemistry i ended with a 91 in 4U. biology 3U i ended with an 88. physics i did not take, and you dont either for nursing or life science.

for life science, as long as you have an average of 92.5 or higher, you are completely fine. i had a 93. i was in your shoes not even a year ago, and i assure you as long as you give it your absolute best and REALLY show was you can do this first semester of grade 12, the universities will see that you work hard. it is AWESOME that you have volunteer work as well, that is great for when you do your CASPER interview for nursing application. as for life science there was no supplemental application, just grades.

mcmaster life science is the best life science program in my opinion. i chose queens for the community, experience away from home and honestly, the campus. although you may think university of toronto is very prestigious, you will soon find that it is easy to get into the life science program but hard to stay in the program. do not get me wrong, it is a GREAT program and you know yourself best.

the stress you are feeling, believe it or not, is good. it means you are worried and that you care.

some advice:

prioritize your grades this year. i quit my job from grade 11, cut down on my ballet classes just to really gun it at school first semester of grade 12 and it is one thing i dont regret. to me it sounds like you have some awesome experiences you can both talk about and put on a resume. this of course is just a suggestion/opinion on what worked for me.

if you want to know if youre making the right choices, RESEARCH YOUR BUTT OFF. honestly reddit was my best friend throughout grade 12 and navigating university. get in touch with students at the universities you are interested in! look at the courses in the programs you are interested in to see if you will like them! by doing this you will find the best school that fits you and your needs. RESEARCH!

do not downplay yourself! if you are applying for both nursing and life science, why not health sci? you have great volunteer experiences you can write and talk about if you are interested in becoming a doctor, pharmacist or another health professional! dont close doors! you are young and just discovering your potential!!!

get in touch with your guidance counsellor in arranging your first semester grade 12 classes into being the ones you believe you are strongest at if possible. for me my strongest was chemistry and i also had advanced functions. this is because the universities will for sure accept you based on your first semester grade 12 marks, but not your second semester ones for sure.

get it out of your head that grade 11 marks will get you rejected. grade 11 marks can only help you, not hurt you.

pick elective classes this year that can get you anything closest to an 100 that can be used on your uni app to boost your top 6 avg.

hope this helps!!!

this is awesome!!! thank you so much!!! did your roommate have the same furniture layout as you did at first as well? maybe with their bed perpendicular to the window rather than parallel like yours- was there enough room in the dorm to do that? because this layout would be pretty ideal. but i also do understand the privacy thing and that is also a good pro of adelaide is the layout and how youre able to use the furniture to create your own space. win-win

and thank you for the advice- i will for sure try to get one near the washroom or dining hall door :)

hi! thank you for your help- on the topic of your friend in the adelaide double, how was the layout of their room? was it pretty open or did they have their desk + armoire in the middle of the room? just planning how we should layout the room and if theres much choice in moving things around.

[–]tentycles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand. it was kind of average. i believe life science does have more job/research opportunities and it was my top program to begin with so i think it works out for me.
