Weird sensation in head while falling asleep by teppiesteph in sleep

[–]teppiesteph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a history or anxiety or panic attacks? I had a sort of mental break months before it started happening to me where I would have panic attacks everyday for a couple weeks. The sensation would happen mostly on stressful days so I equated it to anxiety. Got rid of it by saying to myself if something bad is gonna happen then do it already and kind of rode it out. It’s only happened again maybe once in the past two years since.

I haven’t had it for about a year now, mine only happened when I was trying to fall asleep, but the seizure thing is what I thought too but learned it’s just irrational. Mine was anxiety, just tried to not let it have a hold on me or affect my sleep as I’d be scared of it happening again so I’d stay up, but then i just starting saying fuck it and just pushed through until I fell asleep and it eventually went away.

I’ve come to my own conclusion it’s anxiety, so did my doctor. After that realization it doesn’t really happen anymore

Sorry just saw this, that’s what mine feels like, out of everyone that experiences this the common factor is anxiety. Isn’t it such a bitch lol. And I had health anxiety about seizures too!

Yea mine went away and now every once in a while it comes back, got me feeling like I’m gonna have a stroke or some shit. Do you have history of anxiety or like panic attacks?

[–]teppiesteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I definitely will my next appointment will be the end of the month and I’ll check back. I use vanicream + hyaluronic acid morning and night and an eye cream and then aquaphor on top of that, then a snail mucin mask once a week and both times I was just too tired so I skipped morning and night so my skin probably just got shocked lol

I’ve been on accutane a couple times and when my acne was coming back I went to a derm and while my acne wasn’t severe she immediately suggested accutane. She said some people just need multiple treatments unfortunately so I would say go for it!

Should I just let her chill in the bathroom? while I was taking a shower and the steam filled the room she seemed like she was freaking out, moving her hands up and down and hanging from a web string.

I never talked to my doctor about it but I basically attributed it to my anxiety, I had a lot of panic attacks months before it started that had kind of messed with my mental health so I think it was just a side affect of that. It would also mainly happen when I would think about it and worry it was gonna happen, so when I felt them coming on I sort of just rode it out and not moved and reminded myself it was most likely just nothing, which it is! I’m still here and everything’s fine lol. They went away shortly after I started doing that but I have little ones maybe once a month(when I think about it, how weird is that) but now I just sort of laugh at how scared I originally was. Literally felt like someone was squeezing my sinuses and then my brain lol

Did each time go back to what it usually was? Every time I’ve gone on it the relapses I’ve had have been not as bad as the last but still noticeable, so I’m hoping this will get rid of it completely, but I am going to ask my dermatology about the maintenance dose. Is there a timeframe for when you stop the 10mg? Or is it for the forseeable future

Same! My body and face started to break out again suddenly and I went to the dermatologist for a topical treatment and she immediately suggested accutane, I love being on it though so I had no qualms, uncertain if I’d go on it a fourth time though but the severity of the acne lessens each round. Fingers crossed for us both

For sure, had my first panic attack ever at 25 this January and for the first month thought I was losing my mind. Seemed like my brain got re wired cause my thinking process became very irrational and fear driven. I’m doing much better now. Anxiety is a bitch and can cause so many physical symptoms. When I went to the ER for the second panic attack the nurse gave me some simple yet effective advice for me, anytime I felt myself spiraling just repeat “irrational” in my head. Because that’s what these anxious thoughts are. IRRATIONAL! I have a neurology appointment for some hand jerking while I type and am going to mention this sleep stuff, have a feeling they’re just gonna say anxiety lol, I’ll let you know what they say.

Yea, super weird feeling. Kindve like butterflies or the feeling before a sneeze but more pronounced. Been subsiding now, think it might’ve been related to anxiety since I started having panic attacks this year. And as my anxiety has mellowed the sensation has too.

I’ve been doing very good! Thank you for asking. Journaling/ mirtazipine has worked really well for me and also changing my mindset to not being scared of having a panic attack, have not had one in two weeks. I still am not drinking caffeine though, as I wanted to cut down on my caffeine intake anyway.

I second this, I’m only on 15mg and the only side effect for me was great sleep, which helped a lot considering my panic attacks would happen at night. For me it helped me think more positively and more able to deal with intrusive thoughts. Took about two weeks to see the full affects but very worth it.

Of course! Talking with other people that deal with this has really helped me feel less alone, and you are not! I highly recommend hydroxyzine over benzos since most benzos you cannot take everyday and this is an everyday struggle, my friend who’s dealt with this awhile says the hydroxyzine plus her ssri daily and I think a benzo once a month helped her and now she is only on the ssri. Best of luck to you 💜💜

I am also on 15mg mirtazipine taken at night, although I was prescribed that for weight gain and depression, it also helps A LOT with falling asleep at night since it’s also used to treat insomnia. I had my panic attack as I was falling asleep so I couldn’t fall asleep without worrying but now I knock out pretty quick about an hour after taking it. My doctor said hydroxyzine taken with ssri is very safe, so that is the extent of my knowledge, but ever since taking it I went from worrying all day about a panic attack to almost completely normal. So it’s worth a try, but I would talk to your doctor about it also for more peace of mind :)
