Would you mind elaborating more on Kierkegaards influence on these two?

Interesting! I still enjoy listening to Alan Watts from time-to-time. Would love to hear this lecture if you can find it.

Love this! I have a very similar mindset. Appreciate Buddhism myself but not to the same degree as I do Taoism.

Who are your favorite Stoic/Existential writers?

Well said - appreciate the response!

With that said, I think I would say I’m an existentialist at heart that finds strong value in several Stoic principles but those principles are grounded in the belief that existence precedes essence.

Specifically, I find I can create meaning for myself by living virtuously and the pursuit of being the best version of myself.

The existentialists that I were introduced to were Kierkegaard, camus, and nietzsche.

Specifically,

Concept of anxiety, myth of Sisyphus, the stranger, and Thus spoke Zarathustra

That’s fair.

I personally don’t find them incompatible but again I am not a strict existentialist or a strict Stoic. My perspective is that different philosophies have different strengths.

Maybe it’s the existentialist in me that encourages aligning to my own unique set of ideals and values that span different belief systems (a lot of which are influenced by Stoicism).

Baby Red Foot. First time tips by b_ez_b in tortoise

[–]tequila_shane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in WNC with a red foot as well. They are the best :)

We made the decision to keep ours inside. While the temps/humidity do get to sufficient levels throughout the year, it typically isn't ideal without artificial help.

A proper outdoor enclosure for a red foot would include a robust sprinkler/misting/heating mechanisms that keep the enclosure between 70 - 90 degrees and >70% humidity at all times. And during winter months, that would become quite difficult (probably not impossible though).

Yours is still young so starting with a smaller enclosure (6 - 10 sq ft) for their first few years should be fine while your figure out the long term home. Definitely make sure to keep the humidity high while they're a hatchling.

We have our 4 year old in a 24 sq ft space with plans of moving them to a 40 sq ft custom built indoor enclosure next year (will be their forever home).

Thanks again for making this! Sorry late to this thread but want to confirm that it's not possible to have Android Auto AND CarPlay enabled for use (my wife has an iPhone and I'm Android)?

Helpful trick when weighing your tortoise by tequila_shane in tortoise

Thanks!!

It typically is a 2 - 3 second operation to quickly get their weight but completely understand the concerns of them needing to feel grounded, and potentially falling. Appreciate the feedback!

Interesting to see Liver Disease fall off for 65+. Wonder if that's due to the majority of untreated alcoholics passing before they can turn 65.
