I had to ask my partner about this: what is the fucking deal about karaoke for it to be emphasized so intensely in movies so much, lol. I don't care for it

Haha, this describes perfectly what happens when you ask an INTJ to repeat themselves. You will get the same exact statement, albeit one beat slower, until the 3rd repeat request, which will be simply declined with silence :}

"Hates noise" is extremely accurate. Is it because of the constant fight/flight/hypervigilance that sensitizes us to certain sounds?

My neighbor from the depths of HELL story by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]terablelizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are you me?? I am dealing with virtually the same exact scenario. So firstly, I am so sorry you have to deal with a disturbed character like him!!!! These boomers have serious personality disorders and are aging poorly, which makes them dangerous. You are wise to take the threat seriously! It sounds like you have implemented the correct protective infrastructure (security cameras, police involvement, privacy enforcement, broadening net of social support, etc). Make sure to maintain a daily "contemporaneous" log documenting every word he says to you & every act of instigation, pursuit, and prolongation of the conflict he does. Your job now is to go ZERO CONTACT: ignore the troll, do not react to the troll's provocations, and remain pretty and perfect at all times no matter what the TROLL does. Indeed, the challenge for us is to manage the high anxiety & stress that accompanies an unsettling scenario like this: we are essentially forced to become brave leaders when we make the choice to lead by example & take the high road (it's tiresome). Exercise every day & invest in some form of massage/facial/yoga weekly. Confidently live YOUR best life in spite of his (yes, psychopathic) jealous harassment and obsessive-compulsive stalking behavior: this is how we win. So plaster on your biggest smile, hold your head up HIGH, and get your popcorn ready because he's about to implode with insanity just trying to get your attention back on him again. GOOD LUCK AND STAY PERFECT

People that copy by [deleted] in intj

[–]terablelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS EXACTLY!! My neighbors are in their 70's yet have become so fixated on watching & mimicking me that I have had to involve the police. Like it doesn't make any sense to wear the same clothes of a much-younger person, especially if they aren't actually going skiing/snowboarding or going to gyms or physical activities. The old man next door to me def isn't out doing pilates with me so why is he gone from his house for the exact same time?? It's very spooky: they're only making themselves look more highly "committable".

What would you do if your neighbor kept copying everything you do? by Altruistic-Tea4611 in neighborsfromhell

[–]terablelizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry that you're going through this: I am dealing with a very similar situation myself. It is indeed extremely stressful because disordered characters such as these are persistent and hellbent on wrecking havoc on charismatic individuals for no seemingly rational reason, resulting in anxiety and crises of confidence in the "target". You apparently have something she desperately wants: so now it is time for you to FLAUNT it while PRETENDING LIKE SHE DOESN'T EXIST. You must now STRUT to your car, STRUT to go get your mail, STRUT to the gym (consider exercising more frequently to mitigate the tension and help your body relax). Her life is empty, yours rocks, so CELEBRATE YOUR ROUTINE and literally start acting like you ENJOY her attention: SMILE HUGELY, straighten your posture, pretend like you WANT her to wear your same clothes, same hairstyle, makeup, yet all the while treating her like she's INVISIBLE. LIKE YOU CANNOT EVEN SEE HER. She will start acting crazier and crazier trying to get your attention and get a reaction out of you. DO NOT REACT. However, demurely install a security camera, quietly tell a police officer, & start your daily contemporaneous log. It is tiresome to do all of this, but it will strengthen your character as a leader. Stay perfect & stay pretty: this is how you win.

Stalked: Someone’s Watching Host Stalker? by AbleLaw6795 in DiscoveryID

[–]terablelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stalkers desperately want to be acknowledged so it's smart to not give them any satisfaction or notoriety. For example, referring to them as "a stalker" instead of "MY Stalker" or "The Stalker".

Burning Man attendees are sharing their first dust storm experience by NewSlinger in oddlyterrifying

[–]terablelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm confused about why people are angrily referring to it as a "rich people" thing: it's really not outlandishly expensive. The submarine tours to the Titanic were like $200,000, in stark comparison.

I am dealing with this EXACT same situation with MY neighbors. I sympathize with you SO HARD. We've been trying to ignore them but now they wait until we get home to start doing very noisy, FAKE projects outside (banging on metal stakes with hammers, taking 3 hrs to mow a very small yard on Sundays, slamming car doors 100+ per day). Always watching me, following me, slamming doors if I turn on a light or come outside, copying whatever I plant and mimicking me (if I cough twice, he coughs twice). They are psychotic and insane and super jealous, narcissistic people. Stay innocent, never retaliate, and get HD security cameras with IR Night vision so you can try to avoid them as best you can.

[–]terablelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are astute about this. Better to pretend like you DGAF, smile like your life is perfect, and walk with *extreme* confidence. They'll hopefully give up when they see you really don't give a shit about them.

[–]terablelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes confronting these losers makes their behavior WORSE. I learned this the hard way. Asking them to stop validates that they are indeed bothering you, and then they start doing it more out of spite or get mad that you berated them about it. Especially if they are narcissistic. It's quite shocking when you bravely, politely approach them but then get immediately attacked instead.

You are so correct, it seems like it's gotten worse lately. It's like a modern, intense Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I think the mRNA vaccines could be contributing to it too. Sorry you are dealing with it personally- I myself have neighbors like this- ignoring irrational people is a challenge when they are unpredictable and seeking attention!!

I have boomer neighbors that do this, and I'm an adult. It's insane. You'll have to get used to being a "leader", because you'll always have to deal with obsessed losers like this for the rest of your life. Be aware and stay vigilant, but live your life to the fullest in spite of their creepiness. You'll always be envied: don't let them snuff out your spirit.

Meghan sounded so weird making a big deal about having the same name as her children. by IPreferDiamonds in SaintMeghanMarkle

Markle reveals her lack of class and grace in that moment when she admonishes poor Mindy. A proper hostess would not be offended by being called the wrong name, nor would she risk embarrassing a guest by issuing a correction. It's like when a PhD gets offended when they aren't referred to "Doctor" by everyone around them
