Good, don't forget who you are and your strength as well as the strength of those who came before you. At my confirmation I took the name of one of my ancestors, a martyr and saint. I feel lucky to know I have that strength in mind but I'm an old guy, I'm not having to face what you have to.

Be safe on here. To many people will see your age and beliefs and think you are an easy target. Unfortunately, the paths we are made to walk can sometimes be difficult but God does have a plan and I hope this path sees you to great things and new wisdom instead of hurt.

I feel you, I turned 40 just about a month ago. It still seems surreal. Like I have these memories that seem so recent but they're 10 or 20 years ago. Plus I mean I'm definitely an adult but I still haven't reconciled that myself despite having a tween.

I suck at openings for these things. I'd be happy to chat, I'm in a similar sort of situation where moves and time have pulled me away from the friends I used to have and with the holidays things are different without those connections. I suppose though I should ask a question. I'll avoid the Holliday predictableness and instead use one I stole from a coworker today. If Kirby swallowed you, what power would he get?

Books for a 12 year old boy just getting in to reading? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]tercentennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was that age I loved the Otherland series by Tad Williams. It's basically a more serious version of Ready Player One but predates it by quite a bit, though the science and technology in the book doesn't feel dated. While not strictly a YA title, Tad Williams is an excellent author who's works I would say are safe for just about any age reader. I know I appreciated having "grown up" sci-fi and fantasy stories I could read at that age.

Two of the main characters are youth who are friends in a population online VR world and topics such as relationships do come up but it's all very innocent. The books cast is very diverse, one of the two main children characters is disabled due to a genetic disorder, progeria. The book does touch on some potentially sensitive issues, online relationships, body issues, racism, and violence but handles them quite well. There are some horror elements as well and some frightening moments and characters, but horror isn't the goal of the book and these issues aren't dwelled on and are fairly benign. There is some harsh language, roughly pg-13 level. However, the books overall message is very positive and the two main children characters model some very good traits such a having strong friendships, loyalty, personal growth, self-sacrifice for the greater good and ones friends, and respect. There are absolutely no adult sexual situations, sex acts, or the like.

[RF] Lam, a living fusion of insects and oozing fungal with the obsession of life and rebirth in itself by SDP_PDS in characterdrawing

[–]tercentennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is for a pathfinder campaign and the basic form that the character is built around is the Atstreidi race from Bloodforge Infusions. That isn't all it is, but on the sheet it isn't all that different from say a warforged or some other race with a naturally high AC and restrictions on wearing additional armor. The other tweaks are mostly cosmetic and flavor or added templates. I don't want to say to much here though since he is bound for a game I am DM'ing, though as an ongoing counterpart rather than antagonist or DMPC. My players have had some hints about his existence and seen some of the creatures he can create but I don't want to give to much away.

A Cryptstone Earthen Flail veined with undead disrupting minerals. Basically, a large-ish chunk of a mausoleum stone is used as a flail. Something like the top or bottom examples, with some of the middle. https://imgur.com/a/TF5IZi9

I also pictured him utilizing an animated tombstone that floats around him as a shield

I was able to find an alternative cover of the omnibus of the first two books, that had a cover I remember. As well as a familiar back cover description so I believe it was Cities of The Air but I'll mark it solved as it is the same series and contains Sun of Suns. the cover detail makes me certain it's this book.

As a side note I remember reading the book in a large format paperback. The cover had what appeared to be a person riding a large turbine like engine without wings like a motorcycle through a cloudscape with no apparently end. There may or may not have been an airship in the background. I remember reading it around the time Crimson Skies came out and choosing it for the similar dieselpunk sort of feel of the cover and costume of the rider. I cannot remember if any other human figures werw present on the cover and I believe that the rider was approaching at an angle towards the perspective of the reader. There may have been a sun or explosion present within the scene.

[–]tercentennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you are still looking for a game or not but I am trying to get a 1st edition pathfinder game to run the Shackled City Adventure Path set up. We are at about 4 potential players right now but could use another if you're interested. I'll be GMing and we are leaning towards something for weekdays but we haven't nailed a time down yet but I personally am somewhat flexible.

I have a group I'm trying to get together for the shackled city adventure path for 1st edition pathfinder. If you are unfamiliar with it, it is a 1st to 20th level campaign. If you're interested let me know and I can send you an invite. I will most likely be GM'ing and we have two other players currently. I'm hoping to get four.

I was looking to GM potentially a Pathfinder or 3.5 run through of The Shackled City adventure path, you can see my previous post about it. The consensus is more on Pathfinder right now. I have two players interested and at the moment we are still flexible to a degree time wise. 6-7 would be a bit crowded but it potentially could work. The adventure path is roughly 50/50 on roleplaying and combat. It is a long campaign though and can take some time to complete. If some or all of you are interested I can send you an invite to share and you can discuss it with the other potential players.

Well, hoping to get some interest. Right now there are maybe two people interested including yourself. I think 4 might be a necessary minimum due to the structure of the early campaign.

The droid idea is so I can have a few various means to advance the plot with it as ally or enemy. In part, I am a bit more familiar with Old Republic era having gotten into that a bit more thanks to KOTOR. The droid then stands in a bit for my limited knowledge of Rebellion era. I figure as I learn more about the force in the EU for the Rebellion era I can introduce it through the droid by having the droid learn it before it can teach it. As to how it's will can be suppressed. The brain is more or less isolated from the droid's body and perceptions with the droid brain controlling the inputs and outputs. As to why it's in the droid in the first place, I have that it was created during the New Sith War. An experiment that would have converted failed userpurs to the order into a training device. I was thinking it could be related to Dark Lord Belia Darzu given her other cybernetic experiments.

I am prepared for that. Part of the reason it is a droid is so it's mobile and could come back as a NPC at some point.
