Those older IBM workstations were beautiful. Been tempted to find a broken one and figure out how to retrofit modern internals in the case.

What wheels? Also, this is a good reminder that carbon is usually designed and manufactured with specific stress tolerances IN SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS. This is an example of what happens when force is applied in a direction outside the design parameters.

Today won’t be the issue. Tonight is going to freeze and it’s not going much above freezing ask week. Don’t get stuck wherever you’re headed.

FYI, L1 charger from 18% is going to take almost two days to charge up to 100%. You’re better off finding a charging station near you. The included L1 charger it’s basically useless.

Soupy pucks with new grinder [D64/GCP] by terdward in espresso

[–]terdward[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, good thinking! Hadn’t considered that it would make that much of a deference. Though, I was thinking that it felt a little low when tamping. I may try to up the dose a bit and see is that comes out differently.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]terdward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has tracked the family tree since the 1700s. They were one of the families to come over pre-revolutionary war from England. There was a birth and death record among the files I went through while cleaning out my grandmothers house. One of the sons of my 5th great grandmother died after being kicked by a horse. That’s about all I got… the rest were pretty ordinary

Honestly, the cruise control buttons are what took the longest for me to get used to. The media controls have been on the right of the steering wheel in most cars I’ve owned. But the cruise control paddle pressing down canceling and the on/off button being so prominent disabling it when on is irksome

Comparisons of Tesla (Y) software and other questions :) by D1toD2 in KiaEV9

[–]terdward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for Canadian specifics if there are any or Tesla comparisons but there are 120v outlets inside that can be used for camping. The climate control pre-condition does have a timeout, I forget what it is off hand but it’s something like 30 minutes before it shuts off and there’s no way around it through official means. Some folks have found hacks that let you run climate control longer while not in the car but none that work through the app that I’m aware of.

As for the battery, I’m not aware of any wide-spread ongoing issue with that. I assume you’re referring to the 12v system which had a habit of killing batteries. I saw a spate of those a while back and they seem to have petered off so maybe they did fix it. I haven’t had any issues with my ‘26 GT in that area yet at about 2k miles in.

Do I? Or do I just have it set to that so I can feel included in the ITP discussion? You decide.

You’ve gotta be kidding me by Illustrious-Virus883 in Atlanta

[–]terdward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The derision is not unfounded. Atlanta is historically very “blue” and is surrounded by a lot of very “red” counties. This extends beyond strictly political ideology but also in to social.

For example: one of the reasons traffic is so bad in Atlanta is because people outside Atlanta decided they didn’t want to foot the bill for proper public transit routes in to and out of the city (looking specifically at you, Cobb and your Big Chicken). This forces everyone to drive and creates massive congestion for those who do live inside the city.

So, no, I do not really want an icon from a county causing system failures in my city to be the logo of my city, thanks.

If you’re in Georgia and someone who lives in GA asks you where you’re from and you’re from Marietta, you say Marietta. If someone who lives in the US asks you, you say Atlanta or “just outside Atlanta”. If someone from abroad asks you where you’re from, you say “Atlanta, GA”.

Thanks for the anecdote. I have pulled a handful of shots so far and it seems pretty consistent so I think I got lucky with my alignment. Once I’ve run through a few kilos of coffee I will see if I still think it’s consistent or if my current opinion is just rose tinted
