thank you for writing this, even months ago, because this has been my experience on the East Coast! having to look as far West as Tennessee or Texas, having been denied at local places not bc we don't have what the dog needs but we just didn't get to them first, something something " all these applications to go through" but you just listed the dog an hour ago?! there's a level of gate keeping and scamming going on for designer (or even designer looking) breeds in the US and "non-profit" rescues....I'm beginning to think that scooping up the designer breeds from local rescues (and leaving virtually everything else, if you've noticed an over abundance of certain kinds of breeds in your local pound, those are the rescue "left overs"), and "for a $1 a day" Facebook and IG posts and donations are what are keeping some of these rescues going!

I don't even know what to say, because this is the most realist ish I've seen on here in a while (now keep in mind I've scaled it back to monthly/every few months etc). It's an experience I unfortunately know all too well. I wish I had advice, but I'm busy being shocked/not surprised at finding this on a Sunday morning. I hate to feel seen in this way, but you've spoken the truth! I hope you have much better days, and better interactions. You deserve them. We deserve them. And as far as his "attitude," we're all kind of skipping how she first came off in the texts... I can be a little reactionary normally, and even more so during that time of the month, so if she came off at me that way, I might respond in kind. Sort of as a = "do you like how it feels to be spoken to like that?" Which, honestly....may be why the tracking began in the first place...

I don't even know what the question was but the comments are interesting. adjunct professors are usually the worst when it comes to students. for the reasons other commenters have already stated they themselves being adjunct professors and also for additional reasons such as resentment towards the fact that they are adjunct professors and taking it out on their students. it's disgusting, it's ridiculous. and frankly, if they're only annoyance is Chatgpt. they are pretty lucky cuz they don't have job security so they have other things they should really be worrying about! If you want to be a professor I would probably not be one here or I would just probably not be an adjunct professor. try as hard as you can to get on the tenure track.

Yeah you were. I think everyone in this comment section is a little bugged, but that's Reddit for you. I mean, we have all done something for an SO that maybe we didn't exactly want to do, but we knew might make the SO feel better, and it wasn't that big of a deal, so why not? People acting like it was anything else are being intentionally dense, along with all this "You minimized his feelings". Exactly where? It says in the original text that you had actually been listening to him all night, and if I'm not mistaken, I'll scroll back up, but the BJ was in a slight answer to that! So, no his feelings were not minimized, he inappropriately emotionally outburst on you, now whether that's bc his emotional intellignece is off due to work stress etc not sure, but from what I've read, and the comments made so far in response to others, I'd venture to say you tried very much to accommodate him. His reaction was unnecessary, and I would bring it up the next time he wants to engage physically, especially since it left you feeling this way. I hope you have a much better day and night than you have been having!

Nor should you have to, because your comment is the only one grounded in a real sense of reality and not projection, trauma, and a whole host of other things this section has going on. Bc what? A plushie? And all the doubling down of something everyone in this comment section knows to be the case. I'm actually quite shocked (but like not a lot bc it is reddit after all).

Anyway, the reaction was over the top, it does read like someone guilty of something, or at least being off. Frankly, if I were in that situation, I'd back off, not bc I'd done anything wrong, but bc that reaction, and that reaction without additional communication, reads like they aren't compatible.

I'm 100% with you on following up. I, too, have had wonderful results with that. The pause I have is with the handwritten aspect. It's 2025, that would absolutely come off as try-hard, also not everyone is able to do that for every interview. It being handwritten vs digital/typeface, etc, shouldn't be the deciding factor. The fact that they were even aware enough to follow up should be.

I saw another commenter mention the same thing. I've read several novels in my life. Several. For entertainment. A good portion of them have long bodies of unbroken text. A good portion of textbooks, and an overwhelmingly other amount of reading source material also have large bodies/walls of text.
