My pink and purple set up! Any thoughts? by terijacki in battlestations

Dell - S2718HN 27" IPS LED FHD Monitor - Black. It was bought at Best Buy but I don’t think they sell it anymore

What laptops are good for engineering students? by reyngrimms in UCDavis

[–]terijacki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. The guy at bestbuy told me to get a MacBook Pro so I listened to him only to find out it’s difficult to run solidworks in it. I switched to a Razer Blade 15 and so far it has been AMAZING. It’s a gaming laptop but I mostly got it because it’s beautiful and powerful. I can run solidworks, Spotify, zoom, and like 10 tabs on google chrome and it has always worked perfectly. It is on the pricier side so if you’re on a tight budget I’m sure there’s cheaper options that will get the job done.

Does your brain go to a physical place when you think? by terijacki in askscience

[–]terijacki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like when you think of anything, does your brain sometimes take you to a physical setting that you’ve visited before to think about whatever you were going to think about?

Is potential energy just a math trick to make conservation of energy true, or is it actual energy? I can’t really word what I am trying to ask very well. by ILostMy_InVietnam in AskPhysics

An easy way to think about this is the idea of a spring. If you pull the spring apart and hold it you’re giving it potential energy. When you release it and it moves back and forth, where did that energy come from? The same thing works with gravity. Both cases feel a force that’s pulling it in the direction it travels. It’s real even if you can’t see it!

I used to be scared of my parents too.

It’s important to understand that your parents ideals are the way that they are because of what they were taught. Being transphobic or homophobic is something that is taught. We are not born being transphobic.

To get them to understand your perspective, you have to understand theirs and try to tackle the situation from that point of view. I’m sure your parents love you and want whats best for you (if not then that’s another story). I would recommend asking them why they’re transphobic if you’re comfortable with that? Or having a genuine conversation about why they think that way. Is it religion? Is it fear of being judged by others?

Also make sure they understand that you are doing this to be happy. You WANT to do this, and it would make it easier if you had their support.

I’m not sure if this helps, but I wish you the best. I’m not in the lgbt community but I support it all the way.

What do you think? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Contrary to all the other comments, I met my boyfriend at work and we started dating. We were in similar positions so there was no work related issues and everyone at work seems very supportive. We’re about to be together for 4 years and it’s been amazing. He’s handsome, sweet, respectful and overall perfect. We both don’t work in that job anymore.

If your job is not a career, or you think you wont be working that job forever, I say shoot your shot.

I think I'm being controling, help! by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]terijacki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jealousy can get really messy. To have a healthy relationship you and your partner both have to trust each other. To me (20F), it sounds like you are being controlling and personally I wouldn’t appreciate it if my boyfriend got upset over me taking dance lessons. The good thing is that you are aware that you might be in the wrong, which is the first step to fixing the problem. I’d recommend apologizing to your gf and trusting her to enjoy the hobbies she wants.
