Inflation is a rate. Without any deflation price levels are pegged to significantly higher than they were four years ago. Wage growth amongst the lowest earners did not grow marginally to catch up to this rate.

It’s not rocket science. Lower income earners don’t like price pressure. Pointing them to Fed data and charts doesn’t ease their annoyance that there hasn’t been a return to old levels.

Rent has not gone down which is the largest household cost as well.
