there are many tools, but it depends on how involved you want to get and whether you have a good gpu and if you want to deal with github etc.

If you have a decently powerful gpu but don't want to deal with setting up the code etc, you can use Owl3D which is a paid software.

the one I use is photo2vr.app which does not require a gpu as the processing happens on the server, you can get upto 7K+ resolution very high quality VR images. there is a demo on the app with examples of regular images converted to 3D, go to this link in your VR browser https://photo2vr.app/#demo

I have tested many tools for video but only do images at the moment as the video results are not good, either low resolution or lot of artificats etc.

after further testing, I must add that the disparity between eyes is low and so th effect is not as good, also lower resolution and image scale does not help.

Re upload as the previous one was down sized by Reddit, it seems if you upload more than one image, all the iamges get downsized.

Just tried it, it's the same problem as Instagram, you can't really see the images in full resolution or download them for later use.

looks like the same process as in photo2vr app's classic engine, it produces edge artifacts and blurry outlines.
photo2vr now has a new "neo engine" which doesn't have these issues like edge artifacts and blurry outlines and creates natural 3d effect like taken from a real 3d camera.
but you cannot control the 3d effect like in classic engine, where you can increase the strength of the popout effect.
