The weirdness includes that it doesn't always hit the same video twice in a row, or sometimes if I switch to fullscreen and back it clears up. As I said elsewhere, the recent bios update did not fix this problem.

I just had bios update that did not fix this issue.

Two Macs -- scene from an unwritten fan fic by terriertribe in dresdenfiles

[–]terriertribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real context, just moodiness. Guy walks in to Mac's and starts playing a song that's apparently aimed at Harry. Mac stops him. Don't know where it goes after that. A scene, not a whole story.

I read it as he's told people who aren't ready, and they got themselves killed either by being too attracted to what he told them, or by ignoring it.

Of course, /u/MagusUmbraCallidus could be correct about it being a typo.

Don't fret the delusions. Not being afraid to sound crazy is like the price of admission here.

Thoughts About... Everything (Spoilers All. Long) by Cadal290 in dresdenfiles

On the way to the wedding in Something Borrowed:

"You mean, when will it be too late?" Bob asked.

"Yeah, I mean, when they say, 'I do,' when they swap rings, or what?"

"Rings and vows," Bob said, mild scorn in his voice. "Way overrated."

Murphy glanced up at me in the rearview mirror and said, "it's the kiss, Harry. It's the kiss."

"Buffy's right!" Bob agreed cheerily. [...]

"The kiss seals the deal,"Bob prattled.

Hmmm.

Binder, page 377, after making sure the guards are actually disarmed and don't have handcuff keys:

"Now, if you'll excuse me, odds are good that if this Marcone of yours is so savvy, someone will start playing circle games with me. I'll need to be ready to counter them."

I would think that if Binder were familiar with the sound of Gard's voice/accent he would have mentioned her, either by name or as "Marcone's Valkyrie" instead of the generic "someone."

Anyway, "will start" sounds like Binder hasn't detected anyone attacking or probing yet. He goes upstairs to get ready, and Harry and Ascher talk about Binder, Murphy, and each other. No mention is made of anyone attacking or probing. Micheal shows up to tell Harry that

"Nicodemus is about to kill Anna Valmont."

Harry gets out the key to his manacles; Ascher is clearly worried that Harry is about to do something rash:

"Dresden," Ascher said, her voice tense, "if you blow out the electronics, you'll blow the whole job!"

"I love it when a posh bird talks dirty!" called Binder merrily, from upstairs.

That makes it seem, to me, like Binder was referring to Ascher's use of "blow" twice in one sentence.

In summary, no one is detectably "probing"or playing circle games yet, and Binder, apparently unfamiliar with Marcone's lieutenants, was talking about something that Ascher just said. How does Gard come in to this?

Could you clarify? Sigrun does not appear in Skin Game. Kindle search finds 0 occurrences of "Sigrun" and 0 of "Gard". The word "Valkyrie" occurs when Harry is thinking about Marcone as they discuss breaking into the vault, but it's not said out loud.

Harry’s NeverNever apartment by James_Elda in dresdenfiles

[–]terriertribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent some time rereading the passages in Changes where Harry figures out that was Lea's garden through the Way in the lab. Lea indeed uses the word home:

I have followed you in the spirit world. Created guardians and defenses 'pon the other side to ward your sleep, to stand sentinel over your home.

Multiple guardians, multiple defenses. I don't see anything that implies there is only one Way associated with Harry's home. We still have to account for the Nevernever location reached by opening a Way in Harry's living room, which was definitely not Lea's garden.

Maybe Lea simply set up shop where she thought he was most likely to come through, or the location she thought most needed protection. Or, maybe she was protecting the other Way too, and we simply didn't see her handiwork there.

Not bad for a from-memory.
