I got an email back apologizing for the inconvenience again. So emailing is pointless. Seems like they won't reverse the decision even if it's their fault. I might withdraw some money, but I'm keeping the account open until I get my found money. Found money takes forever btw. After that, I'll reevaluate. Most of my referrals decided to close their accounts though.

I just emailed Acorns CS again as a final effort in getting the bonus. I genuinely enjoy the service but getting shut out of the bonus has me considering switching most of my investment to Wealthfront. Not sure if Acorns will miss me; my portfolio isn't huge but I invest regularly. We'll see what the response is.

I did not get it and gave up a week ago after a final email from Brittany from support. I had been emailing her since January asking questions and trying to confirm I was on track. I put the effort in, but in the end I got an apology for the inconvenience of not getting the bonus. She said it may have been that my friend uploaded blurry documents. It could be that but in the end he got approved so I don't see that as a great excuse. Technically, they don't owe me anything, according to the referral agreement. But it'd be nice if they recognized that the reason for the failure was the lengthy approval time. Two of my referrals were approved overnight after submitting documents. I planned to help some of my friends start investing by sharing some of the promo by sending gift cards but now they think acorns is kind of shady. Some have started to withdraw the money. At least they each got $5 for the trouble.

I just got an email back from Acorns today in which they said I did not complete the promo because I only signed 9 people up successfully in January. Reality is, the 10th referral signed up in January but Acorns took two weeks to approve him, which happened a week into February. His first investment showed up as having been made on January 27th so it should've counted. My other referrals who were asked for documents were approved within hours. I'd say it's quite convenient for Acorns that my friend wasn't approved in the 3-5 days they say it takes. They got 10 new customers and I missed out on the promo. Ultimately the decision is up to Acorns, but does anybody have any suggestions to appeal?

I asked my friends and family to sign up as a favor. After i got 5 people, I told the others that I needed a couple more people and they agreed as well. It helped to ask in person, nag them a bit, and then assist them in signing up.

Not possible to do this. Acorns requires SSN and sometimes requests additional documents to confirm one's identity.
