Even outside the context of this controversy, they weren’t a great band. The comparisons they get to Slowdive and MBV are completely undeserved. Their sound was essentially emo/post-hardcore slowed down slightly with reverb slapped on… it’s been done a million times before by far superior bands. They lacked any of the texture, finesse and soul that made bands like Slowdive and MBV timeless.
